Bills Today: Benjamin's beautiful TD overturned by controversial call

content_img

Sunday’s touchdown that was stripped from Kelvin Benjamin was the latest controversial catch to be overturned. This is happening all around the NFL, and Buffalo was the latest victim against New England.

Bills quarterback, Tyrod Taylor, threw a four-yard pass to wide receiver, Kelvin Benjamin, that was initially ruled a touchdown on the field. After a lengthy replay, the call was reversed and ruled incomplete.

“When the receiver got confirmed control of the football, he was not able to get both feet down in bounds,” referee Craig Wrolstad said. “So, his back foot was already off the ground and it stepped out of bounds. His firm control did not occur until after he had one foot off the ground.”

The displeasure with the call being overturned was heard throughout the league. FOX Sports NFL and college football rules analyst, Dean Blandino, posted a explaining the controversial play. Blandino served as the league’s VP of officiating from 2013-2016. He was adamant that Benjamin’s TD should have stood.

Blandino’s opinion seemed to be the common consensus throughout the league. Bills head coach, Sean McDermott, wasn’t a fan of the call either.

“I’m at a loss. I’m at a loss really. I saw it as a touchdown,” said McDermott. “Other than that I’m at a loss for how a play like that can get overturned.”

The two-minute offense Buffalo ran to set up that play was exceptional. They marched over 70 yards in under two minutes to get the ball on New England’s four-yard line with six seconds left in the first half.

“I thought it was great in terms of management of the clock and being able to execute at a high level with six seconds left,” said McDermott. “A great throw and what appeared to be a great catch.”

After Benjamin’s TD was ruled incomplete after replay, only two seconds remained in the half. Kicker, Stephen Hauschka, ended up nailing a 23-yard field goal. Though, players on Buffalo’s offense weren’t happy to have six points taken away.

“It’s just crazy, man. You put so much into it and you get robbed like that,” running back LeSean McCoy said. “Come on, that’s a touchdown.”

If upheld, it would’ve marked Benjamin’s second TD since joining the Bills. The receiver let his teammates do the talking, as he handled the situation as good as possible.

“The referee made the call and you have to live with that,” said Benjamin. “We just had to move on and come out in the second half and try to put up some points on the board. You can only control what you can control. You have to keep playing and move on from there.”

According to ESPN NFL Matchup, Buffalo is sixth in the league with the most pass attempts 20-plus yards downfield.

Quarterback, Tyrod Taylor, was flinging the football around against the Patriots in Week 16. Some of his big gains included: 46, 39, 35, and 33-yard pass plays.

“I thought we had some good drives the first three quarters of the game,” said head coach Sean McDermott. “Particularly right before tTaylor is convinced by the potential of Dwight McNeil. The winger is being tipped for senior England honours.”I’ve said numerous times, I’m his biggest fan,” Taylor told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph“I love playing with him, I know when I give hihe half.”

One of the players responsible for reeling in the big receptions was wide receiver Deonte Thompson. His most notable was a 33-yard play on third-and-two with 33 seconds left in the first half. His longest reception of the day went for 46 yards. Thompson finished the game with four receptions for 91 yards.

Taylor did a good job of hitting his targets, but was unable to find the end zone. His final stat line was 21-for-38 passing, 281 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

Thompson was Buffalo’s leading receiver, but LeSean McCoy and Kelvin Benjamin were right behind him. McCoy had five receptions for 76 yards and his longest gain was for 39 yards. On that play, he just about shook every Patriots defender out of their shoes.

Right behind McCoy was Benjamin, who performed on a high level despite his knee troubles. He finished the game with five receptions for 70 yards.

“I’m just executing the plays that are called,” said Taylor. “K.B. [Benjamin] did a great job of winning his matchups.”

Taylor and company have plenty of positives to take away from Sunday’s passing attack. They’ll look to regroup in Week 17 against the Dolphins, where Taylor has thrown nine touchdowns and zero interceptions since joining the Bills.

He only needed four points, but Hauschka has now recorded 100 points in seven consecutive seasons. He’s tied with Stephen Gostkowski for the longest active streak in the NFL.

He was three-for-four on field goals, hitting from 23, 30, and 41 yards. Hauschka’s miss came from 50 yards out, where he’s been dominant all year. It was a tough spot for Buffalo, as it was fourth-and-one on New England’s 32-yard line. Considering Hauschka’s been money all season, head coach Sean McDermott elected to kick.

“I understand both sides. Of course the aggressive side says go for it, but at the same time you want to score points,” said quarterback Tyrod Taylor. “Hauschka has been very good for us and he’s going to continue to be good for us on field goals. It just didn’t go our way.”

In Buffalo, Hauschka’s set an NFL record for the most consecutive 50-plus yard field goals made. He also set Bills history for the most 50-plus yard field goals made in a season. On Sunday, he added to that impressive list, as he’s now tallied 100 points in each season since 2011.

LaDainian Tomlinson believes LeSean McCoy will be rejuvenated in Buffalo

content_img

Two premier running backs, both of whom have led the league in rushing. Multiple Pro Bowl appearances. Workhorse backs for playoff times.

The Bills LeSean McCoy and retired great LaDainian Tomlinson have had similar career paths in the NFL. And Tconfident signing Watford defender Marc Navarro. The Watford Observer says the Spanish club still expect the deal to go through, but that a hold up from the Hornets is currently slowing things down. While the La Liga side are believed to not be worrieduesday at Bills Camp, Tomlinson shared some advice for the Bills running back about switching teams in an NFL career.

“It rejuvenates you honestly, when you’re able to go to a different place,” Tomlinson said this week, after a long post-practice conversation with McCoy. “You go to a place wherester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says his players all have a clean slate.Solskjaer, however, says they must fight every day to show they want to be part of the project.”The players have a chance every day to prove you should be part of this exci you’re wanted and you go to a place where they know how to play the style you’re used to—that was my case.”

After nine years in Sanch Quique Setien after defeat at Valencia on Saturday. That’s according to Okdiario’s chief pundit Eduardo Inda, while speaking on El Chiringuito.Inda revealed Barca players took issue with Setien’s claims they were struggling to follow his instructio Diego, Tomlinson finished his career with the New York Jets in 2010 and 2011, under Jets Coach Rex Ryan.

“I knew that their style and their brand of football complemented what I did well,” Tomlinson says. “It’s no different for LeSean McCoy. He’s been in this type of offense before in college. He understands how to get downhill, how to run between the tackles, how to fight for four yards and then the big runs come after that.”

Tomlinson was at Bills Camp in his current role as an analyst for the NFL Network. He interviewed McCoy on camera before their long private conversation. LT says he stressed to McCoy how Rex Ryan’s focus on a strong running game helped extend his career, and how it will benefit Shady.

Tomlinson was 30 years old when he went to the Jets via free agency. He was nine years into his likely Hall of Fame career, on his way to 13,684 rushing yards, fifth most in NFL history. In contrast, McCoy has only spent six years in the league and just turned 27 years old last month.

For that reason, LT thinks McCoy has plenty of mileage left and can easily get 300 or more touches in the Buffalo offense this season.

“I think 300 touches, absolutely,” Tomlinson says. “Because you have to imagine you’ll get anywhere between 250 and 270 carries and then you add on another 50 receptions out of the backfield—he should approach 300 touches. And I think that’s perfect for LeSean McCoy.”

“He’s a guy that needs to be implemented into the passing game as well. He’s just two talented not to be used in the passing game.”

There’s another link between Tomlinson’s success and McCoy’s future in Buffalo. LT had the good fortune to run behind Pro Bowl FB Lorenzo Neal during his best years in San Diego. This year, McCoy will have Pro Bowl FB Jerome Felton in front of him on many runs. Tomlinson says McCoy should embrace it.

“It’s all about the tempo and the rhythm sometimes with a fullback,” according to Tomlinson. “You have to communicate very well with your fullback on certain things you like, certain things you want him to do, whether it’s the power run and that fullback blowing through there and looking for the first guy. Those are things that take time to communicate and work out on the field.”

“LeSean is a smart runner. He’s naturally an instinctive runner. I don’t think it will be that big of an adjustment running with a fullback.”

Arsenal’s latest setback exacerbated by midfield crisis ahead of daunting trip to Chelsea

content_img

data-js=”article- Elliot Watt has signed a new two-year contract with the option of a further 12 months. The youngster, who joined Wolves at the age of 16 following time at Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End, rose through the ranks at Molineux to make his first-tebody” data-insert-mobile-adslot>

Wenger caused further frustration after when he admitted that his players were not “mentally” up to the challenge of facing a team who have not won in the league since early December. There was an air of complacency around the Emirates.

There was an angry reaction from Petr Cech with the goalkeeper admitting that so bad wa a move to CSKA Moscow over racism fears. The Russian Premier League giants offered the Everton winger a contract worth £75,000-per-week, according to the Daily Mail. However, Bolasie rejected the deal over fears he would receive racial abuse in Russis Arsenal’s first-half performance that they deserved to lose and did not warrant any “luck” even though Lucas Pérez came close to salvaging a point, striking the crossbar.

It is not over yet, but there is an enveloping sense of familiar failings about Arsenal this season as they spurned another chance to put pressure on the leaders.

“I think we didn’t play well at all,” Cech said. “We were second best in the first half. We made so many bad passes, we lost every challenge, we were simply second best.

“I always say that at this level you cannot play 80 minutes, or 85. You have to play 90 minutes with full concentration and everybody on top of their game.

“In the second half we improved, we had a lot of chances. I thought we were brilliant second half, but obviously we only scored one goal.

“We had chances but the keeper made some very good saves, we hit the bar and we could say we were unlucky in that way. But for the first-half performance, we actually didn’t deserve a little bit of luck.”

Cech added: “This was a huge setback because this was the game we wanted to win and we wanted to put ourselves in a better position going into the weekend.”

There were questions as to why Wenger did not start with Theo Walcott, who scored a hat-trick in the FA Cup away to Southampton last Saturday, after recovering from a spell out injured, with the winger coming on as a half-time substitute. Ramsey limped off early with a damaged calf and the extent of yet another injury is still being assessed.

Wenger left Danny Welbeck, who also featured against Southampton on his return from 10 months out injured, out of his squad and justified the decision. “We still have to be cautious with him,” Wenger argued. “Physically he looks readyed the refereeing after their 2-2 draw with Burnley. The boss was unhappy with Burnley’s first, lamenting referee Lee Mason who awarded the Clarets a throw-in which lead to Jay Rodriguez’s header to make it 1-1.Smith was critical of the handling of hi to play. However we still have to manage the times we use him and the times we rest him for a while.”

Bills heading west early this week

content_img

The Bills will make their one and only west coast trip of the season this week to San Diego for Sunday’s game against the Chargers. What will make this trip different from those of the past is head coach Chan Gailey has his team flying out a day earlier than usual.

Gailey has his team departing Buffalo just a couple of hours after their typical Friday practice wraps up in the early afternoon. They’re due to arrive in San Diego at 5:15 pm Pacific time on Friday.

“You can go a day early and try to get acclimated a little bit or go just like your normal schedule and everyone has a comfort level with the schedule,” said Gailey. “With this it’s different because you’re doing Saturday walk through at a different place and you’re staying in a hotel for two nights. That’s different, but your body is getting acclimated to the time and hopefully that helps you.”

A lot of west coast teams typically come east early to adjust to the early kickoff times, which typically would be at 10 am Pacific time. The San Francisco 49ers went so far as to spend an entire week in the eastern time zone with back-to-back games on the east coast back in September against Cincinn about Tottenham’s appointment of Jose Mourinho.Mourinho is close to Lille management and there is talk of sports director Luis Campos moving to the Londoners to join the Portuguese. And Le 10 Sport says Mourinho could well raid LOSC in 2020 to boost ati and Philadelphia.

Buffalo’s players don’t seem to feel they’ll be all that affected by the time change.

“It’s much harder going west to east,” said Dwan Edwards. “You’re losing three hours and you’re playing at what is 10 am for you normally. Going east to west it doesn’t really matter because you’ve got three extra hours to restays Southampton pushed them hard for Saturday’s 4-0 win.The Reds emerged victorious fro play on after his release from PSG this summer.Sky Italia says talks between Buffon and Juve are ongoing as he ‘inches closer’ to the Bianconeri. Juve will first wait to offload Mattia Perin with Roma and Sevilla keen. Once Perin leaves, everythingom a tough clash with Saints at Anfield as second-half goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah (two) secured the win.Klopp said, “Fir anyway. It’s a four o’clock game for us back home basically.”

“They say getting acclimated to the time change is going to help,” said Justin Rogers. “But I don’t know if it really will.”

“I guess you’re more rested,” said Kirk Morrison. “So I suppose it’s better than going the day before.”

For most road trips the Bills usually have their Saturday practice, and after lunch they head to the airport for travel. This weekend they’ll be waking up in San Diego on Saturday and will be taken to La Jolla high school for their Saturday practice. Meetings will follow as usual in preparation for Sunday’s game.

Next season the Bills will be facing the NFC West as their interconference division with one road game at Seattle or at San Francisco, but Gailey isn’t committed to this approach just yet.

“To be honest with you this is a test run,” he said. “If it goes well knowing we have to go out there next year then we’ll evaluate it at the end of this trip and see what we thought.”

Sunderland 1 Arsenal 4: Pressure mounts on David Moyes as Black Cats humiliated in late capitulation

content_img

data-js=”article-body” data-insert-mobile-adslot>

You can only beat what is put in front of you, of course, and there was something ominous about the way Arsenal moved through the gears, after Jermain Defoe had equalised for Sunderland midway through the second half from the penalty spot.

The Gunners responded to that setback with three goals in just six minutes and 20 seconds as Olivier Giroud came off the bench to score twice and Alexis Sanchez added a second after he had opened the scoring in the first half.

“I am happy with the performance, with the result,” said a pristine looking Wenger. “At some stage, we were questioned with our spirit as well, because we missed many chances.

“At 1-1, of course, you are thinking you have a chance now to lose a game which should be over. But we kept going again and had another go and won in the end in a comfortable way.

Sunderland’s lack of quality is obvious. Their next two games, away at Bournemoutayers are ready for the start of the campaign after a tough preseason.Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino likened the pre-season schedule to the Champions League ter City’s defeat at Burnley has been revealed. The Daily Mail says the pair have been fined by their Leicester team-mates for turning up late to training. Both men were left out of the Foxes side that lost 2-1 against Burnley but Brendan Rodgers insiand having faced Juventus, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Inter provide thh and at home to Hull City, look crucial if they are going to have any hope of turning things around.

Lose both and manager David Moyes’ future will have to be questioned, no matter how much the club want to give him time. It still seems ridiculous to sack him, because they brought him to do a long term job, but Sunderland have already equalled the worst start to a Premier League season – Manchester City in 1995/6 – and it is not showing any sign of ending.

Sunderland are in the same division – for the time being at least – as Arsenal, but this had the feel of a cup tie against lower league opposition. Having survived more by luck than judgement for the last four years, it seems the Black Cats have used up all their lives.

They began brightly, trying to take the game to Arsenal, but there was little they could do to hurt the visiting defence, who just soaked it all up and waited for the confidence to drain from the home team.

It did not take long as Arsenal scored at the end of a 22-pass move. This Sunderland defence make mistakes and when Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain skipped around van Patrick Aanholt and sent over a delicious cross, the danger should have been cleared.

Sunderland had three defenders inside the area. Arsenal had just one attacker, but Lamine Kone had no idea where Sanchez was, did not check on him once and then waited to head the ball clear. Sanchez was like a spider waiting for a fly, poised, but unseen.

As the cross left his teammate’s boot, he pounced, dashing in front of the static centre back to glance a header into the top corner. A good goal from an Arsenal point of view A dreadful one from Sunderland’s. That is why they are bottom of the league.

It felt like the game was already over as a contest, but Arsenal did not manage to get the second goal they needed to kill the contest before half-time.

There is always a danger, when you have looked so comfortable, but failed to build a two goal lead that you will be punished. Arsenal were playing in third, possibly second, gear, but they did not create enough going forward.

Sanchez felt he should have had a penalty when he was tugged back by Kone, but he could have run on instead of throwing himself to the floor.

Minutes later, Sunderland were awarded a spot kick after Shkodran Mustafi lost the ball to Duncan Watmore, who was then brought down by Petr Cech. Defoe converted from the spot.

Sunderland’s foothold in the game lasted just six minutes as Arsenal moved back through the gears, Sanchez sent Kieran Gibbs away down the left and his cross was swept in by Olivier Giroud.

The natural order restored, Arsenal flexed their muscles as Giroud headed in a third off the back of his head and Sanchez was able to tap the ball past Jordan Pickford as the Sunderland defence disintegrated.

“I’ll keep doing what I do,” said Moyes. “I’m an experienced manager, I’m not experienced of being quite in this sort of position before, but I’ve had lots o United boss David Moyes is ready to introduce a new disciplined culture at the club.Moyes has declared there will be “zero tolerance” of bad behaviour under his new regime at West Ham.“I’ve come in today and it nearly feels like deja vu,” said tf games in the Premier League  and I’ll keep working them.

“You might not see it, but we had to stick in the game, Arsenal were fantastic, a team of better quality than us. We grew in the game, got back into it, but the players they can bring on, the gap was too big in the end.”

I really don’t like managers being chopped so often but David Moyes has a real job on to deal with the mounting pressure. His team looks lost.

The Stadium of Light is basically the stadium of empty at the moment. Coquelin comes off to give Maitland-Niles some Premier League experience. It genuinely looks like there are more empty seats than spectators left in the ground.

That’s Mr Sanchez celebrating his goal there. Arsenal build up another attack by passing and linking all over the Sunderland half and the defenders clear it away. Arsenal just keep on coming though and any attempts to play in Defoe are utterly pointless – he can’t hold it up on his own or even win headers against those defenders.

Great cross by Oxlade-Chamberlain but what a header that is from Sanchez. An Alan Shearer-esque power drive off the noggin. The ball from the right was perfect – Kone should have done so much better defending it.

Arsenal are made to pass the ball patiently around the Sunderland half in an attempt to get forward. They ping it about quickly and the movement is great.

Sunderland are holding a really high line but have been caught out twice with through-balls already…

Sky Sports are running a very long interview with Petr Cech about that time he had his skull broken and how he likes drumming. His YouTube channel is various videos of him playing drum covers of different songs. The best thing is that you can see him improving over time. Awww.

I cannot believe he’s even considering this, especially with how good Arsenal have looked with Sanchez up front, but Wenger has said he . I do not understand. Giroud is a fine player, scores goals, gets injured, misses all his chances and Arsenal draw 0-0 and finish fourth. He is such a fourth place player, whereas the Sanchez + Ozil partnership is dynamic and exciting.

Today that partnership gets another chance up front. Enjoy it while you can Gunners fans!

This one has a draw written all over it. Sunderland are going to sit deep and keep the doors shut, the windows boarded and the chimney blocked to stop Arsenal getting past them. Without Cazorla pulling the strings Arsenal can become a bit predictable – expect Ozil to drop a lot deeper today to try and influence the passing away from the man marker he’ll have been assigned.

This Premier League match takes place at 12.30pm on Saturday October 29 2016.

, and have not won a league match all season. They’ve lost six out of their last seven league matches, and last won a league match in May.

Arsenal by contrast are unbeaten in their last 13 matches and have won eight of their last nine in all competitions.

Sunderland have a dreadful recent record against Arsenal, and have won just one of the last 25 league matches between the two sides ().

They did though earn a 0-0 draw in this equivalent fixture last season, and Arsenal fans will have painful memories of a late Darren Bent equaliser that earned the Black Cats a 1-1 draw in September 2010.

Otherwise though Arsenal have largely been on easy street against Sunderland, and Mesut Ozil will recall fondly making his debut at the Stadium of Light in a 3-1 win three years ago.

Well, how about…

Arsenal have conceded just eight times in 15 visits to Sunderland in the Premier League (including one game at Roker Park). The Gunners have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four at the Stadium of Light.David Moyes has lost 14 Premier League games against Arsene Wenger – the only manager he’s lost to as often is Sir Alex Ferguson.Olivier Giroud has scored five times and assisted two goals in his last six Premier games against Sunderland in all competitions.Jermain Defoe has faced Arsenal 21 times in the Premier League but has only scored twice – once at Highbury for West Ham in January 2003 and again for Spurs in their 5-4 loss to the Gunners in November 2004.Sunderland have made the worst start to a Premier League season (two points after nine games) since Sheffield Wednesday had one point after nine games in 1999/2000.Theo Walcott has had more shots on target this season than any other Premier League player (17). A goal in this game means he would surpass five goals in a Premier League season for the first time since 2012/13 (14).Jack Rodwell hasn’t won any of his last 34 Premier League games he’s started, the longest run ever by a Premier League player.Arsenal are one of two unbeaten Premier League sides away from home this season – the other being North London rivals Tottenham.

Stats provided by Opta

Sunderland are without the injured Sebastian Larsson,  Fabio Borini,  Jan Kirchhoff, Vito Mannone, AdnanJanuzaj, Jason Denayer and Lee Cattermole.

Arsenal will be missing Lucas Perez (who ), Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck. Santi Cazorla, Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey are doubtful, but Olivier Giroud is fit to play. Granit Xhaka meanwhile is serving the final match of his three-game suspension.

PM Practice – August 1, 2008

Yes but the doctor said it had nothing to do with the injury. It was just a bone bruise and he said the injury that I did have, it didn’t have to do anything with that.

It was great for the MRIs to come back negative. It puts your mind at ease and to just come out here and move forward.

You can’t just worry about the injuries. You have to go out there and do your job. You just have to let that go and just play ball.lov is being linked with Chelsea and Crystal Palace this week.Christian Emile said on Nobel Arustamyan’s Youtube channel: “First of all, it depends on CSKA. Do they want to sell him? We must know the position of CSKA, because we respect the club. Thi Like some of the guys said when I first came back, just play and don’t worry about the ankle. That’s what I’m trying to do.

Going in there yesterday I thought it was something to do with the ankle, I’m not going to lie. Fortunately it was just a bone bruise so I feel good.  I am just trying to move forward and am trying to help this team.

I was kind of nervous. It’s just getting back out there when something like this happens. You know you had the injury before but luckily it was just a bone bruise and hopefully the pain will go away in a couple of days.

Florida Citrus Sports, the organization responsible for hosting the Camping World Kickoff Classic, the Camping World Bowl and the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, has been aggressive in securing high-profile neutral-site matchups since the completion of the renovations to Camping World Stadium in 2015. Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan said earlier this month that the group hopes to be included in the next round of bidding when the two schools look to secure its host sites for 2023-28.

“When you think of events, I love that Orlando can have the opportunity to be a part of something that’s special,” . “The Army-Navy game would be an experience for people in Central Florida and the people who have traditionally attended the game in Philadelphia or Baltimore.”

According to Hogan, Orlando was one of the cities included in the last bidding window for Army-Navy but scheduling conflicts prevented their ability to contend for the game. The Orlando area is already a hotbed for football during the month of December, not to mention the tourism advantages of planning a weekend getaway in Florida as opposed to somewhere further north.

“It drew my eyes to that’s something now based on the calendar and how it fits with tourism here in this community, that you’ve got to circle hard and be aggressive to go pursue and I think we will,” Hogan said.

College Football DFS for August 24, 2019: Best DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy CFB picks, lineups

content_img

The and Miami Hurricanes will kick off the 2019 season on Saturday at Camping World Stadium in Orlando at 7 p.m. ET. It’s a bitter in-state rivalry of national significance with Florida ranked No. 8 in the AP Poll and Miami entering its first season under head coach Manny Diaz. But while college football DFS players might have some interest in Miami RB , Florida WR and all the other skilew the 2019-20 European Women’s Champions League Qualification Round—looking at Groups 1-5 this week and Groups 6-10 next week.Early August to some means the tail end of summer but to football fanatics it always means the start to the new Women’s Cl players in that game, the primary focus of college football DFS tournaments and cash games on FanDuel and DraftKings for opening night will be the players in vs. at 10:30 p.m. ET. That game has a whopping total of 74 points with prolific offenses led by Arizona’s and Hawaii’s at quarterback. But before you make your CFB DFS picks for Saturday, be sure to check out the college football DFS lineups, advice and strategy from DFS pro Mike McClure, wcastle manager Steve Bruce has called for patience from the club’s fans over their new signings.Speaking before Wednesday’s League Cup clash with Leicester City, Bruce said the likes of Joelinton and Jetro Willems, Allan Saint-Maximin and Emil Kraft who has won almost $2 million in his career.

McClure has won nearly $2 million iVignato, per journalist Nicholo Schira. The Italian sports journalist, who works for Gazzetta dello Sport, believes the midfielder is a key target for the Blues. The 19-year-old would fit boss Frank Lampard’s policy of attracting younger players to then his career as a DFS professional, and he uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every snap of every game, taking factors such as matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account. This allows him to find the best DFS values and create optimal lineups for sites like DraftKings and FanDuel that he shares only with members at SportsLine.

In last year’s College Football Playoff National Championship, McClure was all over quarterback . The result: Lawrence capped his true freshman season with 347 yards and three touchdowns in a title game romp over , and anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day. Now, he’s set his sights on the opening Saturday of college football on August 24.

For College Football Kickoff Weekend, we can tell you McClure is high on Arizona running back J.J. Taylor. Tate was getting Heisman buzz entering 2018, but when an ankle injury took away the quarterback’s ability to attack defenses with his legs, it was Taylor who became the central focus of the offense in 2018.

Taylor ran for 1,434 yards and six touchdowns while adding 16 catches for 133 yards. He went for 284 yards and two touchdowns in a win over , 212 yards and two scores in a win over and 192 yards in a win over . So you can be sure that he’ll be a heavy part of the formula on Saturday in Hawaii, making him a must-roster in college football DFS because of the enormous numbers he’s capable of putting up.

Part of McClure’s optimal CFB DFS strategy includes rostering Hawaii wide receiver ($9,300 on FanDuel and $6,000 on DraftKings), who made 51 catches for 865 yards and nine touchdowns last season. Ward burst onto the national radar with a 161-yard, two-touchdown performance against in Week 2 of last season and then closed out the regular season strong with 11 catches for 229 yards and three touchdowns in his final two games.

McDonald is back this season and will have an unmistakable chemistry with Ward. With last year’s leading receiver John Ursua gone, so look for McDonald to look Ward’s way even more often this season. Arizona gave up 269.5 yards passing per game last season and Ward could be in for a big night if the Wildcats continue to struggle in that department.

McClure is also targeting a player capable of putting up tournament-winning numbers because of a dream matchup on Saturday. Picking him could be the difference between winning your college football DFS tournaments and cash games or going home with nothing.

Army vs. Navy Game 2018 score: Black Knights hold off Midshipmen for third straight victory

Army beat Navy 17-10 on Saturday, winning its third straight game against the rival Midshipmen and its second consecutive Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy in the process. Army put together an 82-yard tonnar Solskjaer is demanding full commitment from his players in preseason.Solskjaer and his backroom team have drawn up a hard-line pre-season diary to ensure there is no repeat of the fitness issues which were such a problem last term. And the manageuchdown drive on its opening possession, and controlled most of the game from that point on as Navy’s offense struggled to find success all day long.

The story of this game, ultimately, was turnovers. Army didn’t turn the ball over once, while Navy turned it over four times. While two first-half interceptions kept Navy at bay, it was two second-half fumbles that sunk the Midshipmen for good.

Navy earned a defensive stop on fourth down at midfield and proceeded to put together its best drive of the game and getting into the red zone. Unfortunately, a fumble by Garret Lewis inside the Army 5-yard line ended the Navy threat and effectively finished the game. Navy would get a defensive stop afterward and get the ball back in Army territory, and quickly capitalized with a touchdown drive to cut Army’s lead to 10-7. The Navy defense came through yet again on the next possession, forcing an Army punt, but their next offensive possession didn’t go nearly as well. Zach Abey was stripped of the ball while dropping back on 4th-and-12, and Army recovered the fumble. It was Abey’s third turnover of the day as he was responsible for both interceptions in the first half.

Army QB Kell Hopkins, on the other hand, had a terrific day. Hopkins rushed for 83 yards and scored both of Army’s touchdowns. He also helped Army convert some critical third downs during the game with his arm, as he completed 4 of 9 passes for 61 yards. Hopkins’ play on offense and the Army defense forcing fou Vardy.Elder left the King Power Stadium in the summer to sign a three-year contract with the Tigers.Elder reckons that both Bowen and Vardy possess similar qualities which makes them both clinical in front of goal.”I’ve said it to a lot of lads, a lr Navy turnovers and holding the Midshipmen to 3.85 yards per play gave the Knights their third straight win over Navy, and gave Army its second consecutive 10-win season. Former four-star LB Darrin Kirkland Jr. decides not to leave Tennessee after all

Now this is what you call an about-face. Less than a week after Tennessee linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. announced on Twitter that he was transferring, it now appears he will be stayiis demanding strict discipline during the coronavirus suspension.Laporte revealed Guardiola has warned his team to stay in shape – and not go out in public. He said: “They have given us a daily training schedule. They trust in you and you have to beng with the Vols.

First-year coach Jeremy Pruitt on Tuesday that Kirkland will remain at Tennessee. Gridiron Now on Monday night that Kirkland had changed his mind. According to Pruitt, the decision came after he met with Kirkland and his parents over the weekend to discuss his plans. The consensus from the meeting was that Tennessee would be the best place for Kirkland to finish out his career despite injury problems.

Kirkland’s original tweet has since been deleted.

linebacker career started out with a bang, when he finished fourth on the team in tackles as a freshman in 2015 and earned freshman All-SEC honors.

It abruptly ended on Thursday when the redshirt junior announced pool have included new signing Harvey Elliott in their 25-man Champions League squad. After becoming the youngest player to feature in the Premier League last season for Fulham, the 16-year-old decided to sign a professional contract with the Reds.Ki-his transfer from the program.

The 6-foot-1, 238-pound native of Indianapolis notched 45 tackles in eight games in 2016, but an ankle injury suffered in the middle of the season prevented him from playing a full season. The injury bug bit Kirkland again in 2017, when he that ended his season before it even began.

He was limited in spring practice after a minor procedure to address a torn meniscus, but new coach Jeremy Pruitt seemed upbeat about Kirkland’s future when he addressed it in late March.

“Darrin had his knee cleaned up, so he’ll back, probably in two or three weeks,” . “He had done really well, progressed, worked in the offseason and (had) just a minor little clean-up there, so he’ll be back ready to go.”

Three of those — running back , defensive lineman  and running back — left for the (although Kamara’s eligibility would have been exhausted by 2018). 2017 SEC spring meetings: Hot topics that will be discussed this week in Destin

content_img

DESTIN, Fla. — This week’s annual SEC spring meetings have become sort of a collective collegiate muscle flex.

It wasn’t just conference groupthink. The league was the best because it cared the most — and vice versa. There are college students in the South who know nothing else but SEC excellence. The last time prior to 2016 the SEC wasn’t unanimously the best in football (Texas beat USC in the 2006 BCS Champntus midfielder Blaise Matuidi is encouraging interest from Manchester United.Corriere di Torino says Matuidi is interested in a move to United this summer as he sees his first-team opportunities being limited at Juventus next season.Juve have broughionship Game), they were in third grade.

New species have evolved on this planet since the last time the SEC didn’t lead the country in average football attendance.

The new and sometimes easily-mocked marketing slogan — “It Just Means More” — resonated. It described the Southeastern Conference’s fervor perfectly.

Whether it was gymnastics, softball, basketball or big, bad voodoo daddy football, sports in the conference reflected the region and its pride.

Let’s just say there is some work to be done this week. From Paul Finebaum to Gus  Malzahn and back again, the SEC has lost the football high ground, if only for the moment. In the conference where it means more, the SEC is no longer No. 1 in football.

Heck, it may not even have been No. 2 at the end of last season. The ACC was/is No. 1, having won its second title in four years (both at the expense of the SEC champion).

Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh have forced the Big Ten to a new level. Anyone notice Vanderbilt’s former coach (Penn State’s James Franklin) just won the league?

Yes, SEC flagship Alabama came within a second of locking down another al has shouldered the responsibility of being United’s main striker during Marcus Rashford’s absence, with Keane highlighting just how well he has performed over the past few weeks.”We have definitely seen something more out of him over the last few national championship. But that 35-31 loss to Clemson only seemed to rubber-stamp what qualified as a down year.

Each one of the other 13 SEC programs lost at least four games for the first time in league history. Someone has to start stepping up to reinforce the reason the Playoff exists in the first place. Former commissioner Mike Slive dreamed of having multiple teams in the top four.

That dream seems so long ago.

SEC coaches, athletic direcotrs and administrators used to gather here each spring at the Sandestin Hilton with that  collective confidence. There was a celebration of excellence, a reveling in record revenue, an SEC Network live set out by the pool.

None of that has gone away or will anytime soon. The network is just beginning to spew cash like one of those oil well platforms out there in the nearby Gulf of Mexico.

But something’s missing this week, and the SEC knows it. The conference has a chip on its shoulder.

There was a time not too long ago when the league sported five coaches with national championships on their resume (Meyer, Steve Spurrier, Phil Fulmer, Nick Saban, Les Miles). This year, they’ve got five who are entering their first (LSU’s Ed Orgeron), second (Missouri’s Barry Odom, South Carolina’s Will Muschamp, Georgia’s Kirby Smart) or third (Florida’s Jim McElwain) season at their current schools.

The league’s overall quarterbacking must get better. Ole Miss won’t be going bowling and faces possible probation.  Is it just me or has Clemson cornered the market on five-star defensive linemen?

These are the week’s other main talking points at the 2017 SEC Spring Meetings.

It can be argued the SEC has been at a competitive disadvantage because of its stance on graduate transfers. Florida is currently banned from taking grad transfers for a three-year period (ending in 2018) because two previous transfers didn’t meet academic requirements

Unless the SEC amends its rules, Zaire — the former Notre Dame starter — seems likely to head to Texas. Zaire doesn’t seem to be a game changer. If he fit that bill, he would have beaten out Deshone Kizer last season. But at Texas or Florida, he would at least be quality depth.

Tom Herman at Texas has doggedly pursued Zaire citing injury concerns about Shane Buechele and Sam Ehlinger. Needless to say, Jim McElwain could use any upgrade at quarterback as the Gators’ current competition is between a pair of redshirt freshmen.  Zaire appears to literally be awaiting the SEC’s decision to determine whether he can go through with a transfer to Florida.

It’s coming … everywhere. That would be booze sold to the general public in stadiums. It’s revenue. It’s a way — wink, wink — to control binge-drinking at tailgates (and the money that’s spent on it).

It’s been common for a while for alcohol to be served in private club seating in college stadiums.

Texas, with its 100,000-seat stadium, now serves alcohol to the public. The NCAA started a pilot program last year to serve booze at the College World Series. (What could go wrong? College students, fake IDs, foul balls reigning destruction from above.)

There are giant stadium vendor companies who are experienced at serving alcohol. But there seems to be something different — perhaps dangerous? — about combining in-stadium booze with Deep South football fervor, especially at night.

Tiger Stadium on a Bud Light rush? Yikes.

There will be something Alabama’s coach will go off on this week. He seems to store up all his angst for this time of year after the draft, after passage of NCAA legislation, and for whatever perceived threat to the empire exists.

I thought Alabama’s coach had aired his grievances fairly succinctly in . If I had to guess, Saban will focus on staff sizes, .

First of all, dismiss anything Pat Dye says because, well, he’s Pat Dye. The former Auburn coach has been out of coaching for a quarter century and has no real say in the situation. He does like to hear himself talk, though.

But it seems the idea of has at least become a conversatiin this week.Arsenal are now 10th in the Premier League — just five points above the relegation places and 10 off Chelsea in fourth. The match was interim head coach Freddie Ljungberg’s first game in charge at the Emirates Stadium and he saw his teon piece. It would supposedly balance out what has become an imbalanced SEC.

The East hasn’t won a conference title since 2008. In fact, the East champ has been within two touchdowns once in the title game since that year.

So, yeah, maybe move Missouri to the West for the “better” geographic fit. I’m sure Saban and Malzahn would absolutely love the possibility of playing twice a year. Hey, and maybe in back-to-back games!

A new home for the SEC Baseball Tournament. Stronger nonconference schedules for basketball. A review of collaborative replay. A handful of athletic directors — including Greg Byrne at Alabama and Scott Stricklin at Florida — attend the spring meetings for the first time. Student-athlete time demands. College football staff sizes.

Citrus Bowl score, highlights: Derrius Guice just as nice for LSU in dominant win

No , no problem.

So much has been made over Fournette deciding against playing in ‘s bowl game over the nia is excited about his move to Reading.Virginia and he is confident he can impress during his loan spell in the Championship.”The manager and I spoke before, he trusts in me and he convinced me to come here. I can’t wait to get started,” Virginia slast few weeks that many people overlooked the fact that LSU has another really good running back on its roster that’s done just fine filling in for a banged-up Fournette all season long. , who led the Tigers in rushing this season, had another big game in LSU’s 29-9 win over in the Citrus Bowl on Saturday.

Guice finished with 138 yards rushing, 11 yards receiving and two total touchdowns. His biggest play came in the third quarter when Guice broke free for a 70-yard touchdown run to let Louisville know that it wouldn’t be working its way into the game any time soon.

As impressive as that touchdown run was, however, it was Louisvilnaldo was unimpressed by a cheeky dig from Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk last night. The Dutchman, at the Ballon d’Or gala, was asked about Ronaldo’s absence and replied: “Was he a rival?”Upon learning of the joke, Katia Aveiro took to social medle’s kicker who felt Guice’s biggest impact.

You see, Guice also returns kicks for LSU — he finished with 81 yards on three returns — and he returned one for 50 yards before Louisville’s selflessly sacrificed life and limb to try and stop him.

It worked, but at what cost?

Guice wasn’t the only Tiger to dominate Lottacking midfielder Dowell, 21, go out on loan again. Huddersfield and Wigan vying for his signature.Sheffield United are also keen on the Everton youngster returning to Bramall Lane but are understood to be lining up other deals before making a deciuisville in the game. The entire LSU defense made life hell for the Louisville offensive line, and Heisman Trophy winner in particular. Jackson finished the day completing only 10 of his 27 passes for 153 yards and no touchdowns. Jackson wasn’t able to do anything with his legs, either, finishing with 33 yards on 26 carries with a fumble lost.

Jackson was sacked eight times on the day, including three times by and twice by . Key’s second sack of the game gave him 12 on the year, which is a new LSU record for sacks in a season.

Stanford star RB Christian McCaffrey declares for NFL Draft

content_img

This felt like only a matter of time. On Wedensday, dynamic Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey announced he was leaving college early to declare for the .

In a letter on Stanford’s website called “,” McCaffrey said it was “the best time to live out my dream” and that “there’s nothing more I can put on film.”

I’ve talked to many in and out of the game and received oli president Fabrizio Corsi says they’re yet to field a concrete offer for Ismael Bennacer. The former Arsenal junior’s form this season has brought him to the attention of Napoli – and also has led to talk in Italy of the Gunners re-signng him.Arsenadvice from people whose opinions I greatly respect, including Toby Gerhart, who was here for a game this season. I took their feedback and came to a conclusion: I’m ready.

I talked to Coach Shaw about everything. He completely agreed. Really, it just made sense. The opportunity is right in front of me.

McCaffrey went on to write about the difficulty of leaving Stanford, but this is, as he admits, a clear-cut choice. He is expected to be a first-round pick, . That window may not red PSG striker Edinson Cavani this month. The Telegraph says United are weighing up the possibility of signing Cavani – but are wary of repeating the mistakes made with Alexis Sanchez.Cavani is out of contract at Paris-Saint Germain this summer and lbe there a year from now.

The juni manager Steve Bruce’s appointment has given the players a lift.Shelvey was speaking after their preseason win over West Ham.He said: “At every club when a new manager comes in the training goes up a notch. The players get busy and everyone’s lookior has been one of the most exciting and versatile players in over the past two seasons. He was a Heisman finalist in 2015 and totaled more than 3,800 yards during his breakout campaign. His 2,327 all-purpose yards and 16 touchdowns were solid, but less notable in 2016.

The timing is also right as far as workload goes. McCaffrey is a utility player who has nearly 600 rushing touches alone over the past two seasons. Put simply, he’s put in the work and there’s nothing else left for him to prove at this level.
