Man Utd counter-punch Watford into submission in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first match as permanent manager

content_img

data-js=”article-bith Cambridge United has seen Macclesfield safe for another season.”I’m not saying it’s Bobby Moore and Pele great escape [Escape to Victory] but it is a little bit like that as well,” Campbell said afterwards.”Most of the pundits were saying no hopeody” data-insert-mobile-adslot>

et this was 90 minutes that supported that the only change from the “defensive, counter-attacking football” of Jose Mourinho “is that Solskjaer is winning”. United certainly do the counter punch well, and the game’s highlight was a sublime pass from Shaw for Rashford’s goal, but Watford had 20 shots all told and as many on target – eight – as their opponents had efforts at all.

Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera were uniformly dismal, outshone throughout by Doucoure, and with no platform in midfield, United were indebted to some robust defending and Watford’s tendency to snatch at chances. Pogba has had a lot more good games under Solskjaer than bad ones but it is telling that when he plays poorly – and he spent much of this match half-heartedly milling around and cheaply conceding possession – United suffer terribly for it.

Addressing that is one of several challenges for Solskjaer. “Paul is important for us and we couldn’t keep the ball,” he said. “He has been away, played two games with France – a bit deeper for them – so that is something we may have to think about to get him more involved.”

“This is the start of the start,” said Solskjaer in his programme notes, although that message had obviously not got through to his players before Rashford opened the scoring. United were slow, sloppy, sluggish and half asleep. Passes were underhit or misplaced, which invited needless pressure against a Watford side who could not have imagined they would be given so much room and who, with a little more composure, could and probably should have taken the lead. Doucoure dragged a shot wide from 12 yards as the goal opened up, Troy Deeney forced David De Gea to scoop the ball away with a header and an effort from Roberto Pereyra lacked the power to trouble the United goalkeeper.

olskjaer will have b boss Chris Wilder blew a fuse over VAR after their 1-1 draw with Tottenham yesterday.Wilder called for a major review of VAR after Jon Moss failed to follow the Premier League’s OWN guidelines to deny Sheffield United a famous victory. After video reeen most grateful that his team scored first – and what a goal it was. Shaw has been United’s most consistent performer this season and he was their best on show again here. Winning the ball from Deeney deep inside his own half with a well-timed interception, the England left back galloped forward, looked up and, still in his own half, is “baffled” by Mesut Ozil’s lack of involvement this season. The German has not featured in Unai Emery’s last three match-day squads.”I want to see more offensive players on the pitch in positions where we’re going to be able to hurt teams,” Wright bent a quite superb low 40-yard pass in behind Christian Kabasele that Rashford, perfectly positioned in between the Watford defender and Miguel Britos, did not need to break stride to run on to. The England striker took one touch and then, with his second, dinked the ball past the onrushing Ben Foster.

he goal settled United. They were denied a second soon after when Foster made an excellent reaction save from Martial and created several other inviting openings but the momentum built up in the closing stages of that half evaporated after the interval. Off the pace and sitting deeper and deeper, Watford were encouraged to attack. De Gea had to be alert to push away a shot from Pereyra and Will Hughes shot wide from an attack that originated from Pogba squandering possession and it became very apparent that something had to change for United.

errera and Juan Mata made way for Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard just after the hour mark as Solskjaer sought more impetus and those two substitutes would eventually combine to tee up Martial for United’s second against the run of play, the Frenchman scooping the ball home on the rebound from close range after Foster had saved his initial backheel. Doucoure’s goal – slicing through the heart of United’s defence after a one-two with Isaac Success – simply came too late for Watford.

“It’s difficult to explain [how we lost] because we created chances, had more shots, spent a lot of time in the opposition half,” Gracia said. “We need to make a step forward against these teams but I believe we can do it. I see it every day, the commitment and belief from my players, I can feel it but we have to show it.”

was left out of United’s squad after the defender – whose wife Maja has just given birth to a baby son – had received death threats for pulling out of Sweden’s squad for their recent internationals. "We felt Victor was better off not playing because he’s had a couple of things to sort out," Solskjaer said.

ere is Watford’s knocking on the United door visualised. No answer yet.

atford line up thus:

"If I can walk out of here, when leaving the club, having won things – of course, the Premier League – then I’d be a proud man. I’m a happy man, I’m a determined man – the day I walk out of here, I hope to be a proud man."

alk will now be about transfer targets, new contracts and clearing out the deadwood: the bread-and-butter duties of a permanent Premier League manager. But, first, the tricky proposition of a visit from Watford. Honeymoon’s over, the real job starts now.

Bills Today: A bigger role for Justin Hunter?

content_img

Here’s the Bills news of note for Nov. 29th

All he’s done since joining the Bills is catch touchdowns. Of his seven receptions for Buffalo this season, four of Justin Hunter’s catches have gone for scores including last Sunday’s game winner in the fourth quarter.

“I think so,” said Ryan of more playing time for Hunter. “All he does is catch touchdowns. I remember that quote. Just like we had T-D Mike (Gillislee), now we’ve got TD Hunter, touchdown Hunter. He gives us a huge red zone threat, but also I think he does warrant more playing time. With some ofity to sign Lloyd Kelly, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City earlier this week. The Sun claims Liverpool have moved their sights towards Leeds United teenager Leif Davis. The 19-year-old made only four Championship appearances this season but has the injuries we have there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to play more.”

Robert Woods is still dealing with by coach Quique Setien.Setien replaced Ernesto Valverde at the turn of the year.”Honestly, after seeing the last few Barcelona matches, I haven’t seen any improvement since they sacked Valverde and brought in Setien,” he admitted. ‘With the great pla knee injury suffered in Week 11 and Walt Powell exited Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. Percy Harvin is dealing with debilitating migraine headaches that kept him out of the Jaguars game. That leaves the team with four healthy receivers in Hunter, Marquise Goodwin, Brandon Tate and Sammy Watkins.

Through the first half of the season the Bills had a top five red zone defense. Through the first six games of the season Buffalo allowed just six touchdowns on 18 red zone possessions by their opponents, good for just a 33 percent success rate to rank first in the NFL.

In the last five games however, the success rate for opponents has skyrocketed to 81 percent (13-16), with the last three opponents a perfect eight for eight scoring touchdowns once theala remains high on Manchester United’s shopping list.Tuttosport says United are willing to reopen negotiations to sign Dybala from Juve.United failed to sign the Argentine in the summer window but remain on the hunt for a new forward after selling Ry reached Buffalo’s 20-yard line. The Bills now rank 19th in red zone defense.

So what gives?

“That’s an area in particular that we have to get better at,” said Ryan. “We’ve already studied where we’re failing in the red zone and I think we’re amongst the leaders in the league from the 20 all the way down to the five-yard line, but it’s when we get inside the five-yard line they’ve scored 12 times on 22 plays. So that’s a huge area of concern.”

Buffalo’s defensive staff is already devising ways to improve their performance in goal line situations, and it hasn’t all been short yardage runs. Two weeks ago at Cincinnati, Andy Dalton scored on a two-yard run outside the tackle box, but he also threw a one-yard fade to the corner for their other red zone score to go two-for-two against the Bills.

“There are some things to look at obviously,” said Ryan. “Everybody runs the same call down there we just have to get better playing down there. That’s an area where you can’t focus a whole lot, but that area right there is killing us. So we have to do some internal things down there so we can get better there.”

“I wish we knew, but that’s when you’ve got to be at your best to stop them, but unfortunately we have given up quite a few of those, two back to back this past game,” said Ryan. “You’ve just got to line up and play every play and find a way to get them off the field. That was the thing that was disappointing to me (Sunday).”

Ryan felt the defense was particularly hurt by the read option keepers and scramble runs by Jaguars QB Blake Bortles. He was Jacksonville’s leading rusher with 81 yards on eight carries to average better than 10 yards per rush. Bortles converted two third downs for the Jaguars with his legs.

“I thought we had some calls set up to give our coverage a chance and the quarterback makes some big runs on us to convert third downs,” said Ryan. “Those are killers. I’ve mentioned how that can be frustrating for the defense when you have them all covered up and then the quarterback makes a play. Now we know how other teams feel when they play us because Tyrod does the same thing. We’ve got to balance up the rushing lanes and not let these quarterbacks take off on us.”

Fortunately for the Bills, Oakland QB Derek Carr, doesn’t run with nearly the success that Bortles has this season. He’s averaged less than two yards per carry.

Arsene Wenger strives to defy critics by seeing the positives in Arsenal’s Champions League absence

content_img

data-js=”article-body” data-insert-mobile-adslot>

Having found themselves eight places and 21 points below Arsenal at the end of the 2015-2016 season, Chelsea ended the 2016-2017 campaign under Antonio Conte four places and 18 points better off than Sunday’s opponents. Arsenal’s FA Cup final victory that denied Conte’s team the domestic double might have mitigated against that reverse but it does beg the question of how Wenger is going to make up the ground with the gruelling added extra of Thursday night football.

When the two sides met in Beijing last month, Arsenal found themselves well-beaten and their performance against Sevilla in the second of two Emirates Cup games last Sunday . It is early days yet but already Wenger is having to deal with the questions over Alexis Sánchez’s future as well as those on his own new contract after yet another turbulent season in front of a divided support.

He did not take well a question about having to justify his own position as manager, an obligation he clearly does ned Victor Lindelof after their Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City.United trailed their rivals 3-0 at half-time, in the first leg of the Cup semi-final before Marcus Rashford pulled a goal back for the hosts.”This is poor defending from Victor Lindot feel. “I am sorry I am still here. I can understand that you want to kill me but at the moment, I have survived,” he said

“Look, [last season] we won the FA Cup and pton.Pellegrini praised Michail Antonio and matchwinner Sebastien Haller, who combined dangerously together to threaten the Saints throughout as the Chilean switched to a 4-4-2 formation at St Mary’s.The manager said: “Both of them worked very well amade 75 points, and we are of course not happy with it but some teams did worse. When we qualified for the Champions League, people told me: ‘But you didn’t win a trophy.’ Now we won a trophy, and didn’t qualify for the Champions League, and it’s said to me: ‘Why are you not in the Champions League?’ That’s normal to live with but I want to focus on my job and do as well as I can and win absolutely every competition.”

It sounds like Wenger is lukewarm at best about the Europa League, a competition that the club won in 1970 in its very early guise as the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup,. As usual, his objections seem to spring from his opposition to the structure of the competition, which accepts certain eliminated teams from the Champions League into the New Year knockout stages, rather than the benefits it offers to a pragmatic manager.

Asked whether he would take it seriously as a competition, it would be right to say that Wenger hedged his bets. “I will always play a team that has a good chance to win the next game. In the Europa League if we can afford sometimes to rest some players we will do it. But we have to adapt to the level of the competition and see first what kind of group we play in.”

The notion that it might be considered a route into the Champions League was summarily dismissed. “You cannot go into the season and think that. I always was not in favour of that, because I think at some stage it can influence on the championship. If a team is in a position in April where they have more chance to win the Europa League they can let some games go in the championship, and not completely focus on that, on the regularity of the competition.”

“I was always against it [Champions League teams’ entry]. Because apart from Man United, who did win the Europa League, all the years before it was always a team who was kicked out of the Champions League. That’s why I was always against, when we voted in Geneva, I was always against it.”

It did not sound like a man who has his eye on a first European trophy at Arsenal, the one achievement he has not managed in more than 20 years, although, as Mourinho can attest, that may ion Mirandes. The Watford Observer says Aias scored for CD Mirandes last night in a 1-1 draw with Real Zaragoza. The 23-year-old has now scored eight goals in 23 appearances in all competitions this season, including six goals in six games in the Copa change if his team are slipping from contention in the league come spring.

Bills trying to finish on winning note

content_img

The 2012 season has fallen considerably short of expectations, but Bills players are determined to push their disappointment aside in preparation for Sunday’s season finale against the Jets. Going out on a winning note is one of the things the players in Buffalo’s locker room are emphasizing.

“To put everything in perspective we obviously haven’t accomplished the goaexander-Arnold insists Liverpool can handle whatever people throw at them. The Reds scored yet another late goal to seal victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday. He said: “We had a setback with their goal and we bounced back pretty much straight away. ls we set out to for our team this season,” said George Wilson. “We’re not going to make any excuses for it. We have to take ownership of it. We’ve got to finish it out on a strong note this week. There’s nothing we can do right now to change what has happened up until this point. We can only focus on the Jets this week.”

Ryan Fitzpatrick, who has expressed his disappointment in his personal game this season, aood for their FA Cup win at Tranmere Rovers.Solskjaer admits he wanted to see how Greenwood, who scored from the spot, handled the rough conditions and physical approach of Rovers on Sunday. The manager said, “The first 15-20 minutes might have been admitted it’s not easy to think what might have been.

“With all the disappointment that’s happened this year, with all the injuries, the criticism, all the different things, I think towards the end of the year, when there’s no playoffs, when there’s not a whole lot to play for in terms of this win catapulting us to somewhere else, it’s tough,” said Ryan Fitzpatrick. “You always at the end of the season kind of evaluate what went wrong, but this is a game where they’re not really playing for a whole lot in terms of playoff implications. But it’s a pride game, and it’s a game to go out there, and as Chan put it, who hates to lose?  You go out there, and we hate losing and I’m sure they do too, so we’ve got to go out there and prove we’re the team that hates to lose more.”

It’s a division game and that adds some measure of incentive, especially knowing that the Jets have won eight of the last nine against the Bills.

“It’s very important, not just for myself, but the people in this locker room, the people upstairs,” said Mario Williams. “For the fans, for the way the season is going. Obviously, it’s not going the way any of us wanted it. But we got to come out and we got to win, some way somehow. No matter what it is, no matter what we’re doing schematically. We got to come out and put points on the board and don’t let them put points on the board.”

“It’s the last week. We’ve got to give it our all,” said Stevie Johnson. “Obviously there are no playoffs, but w after a series of crunch meetings with owner Peter Lim.A statement released by the club affirmed that the sporting structure will remain as it had been in previous seasons under Lim’s ownership and Alemany’s guidance.”In a meeting held on Friday in e’re going against the New York Jets. They don’t like us, we don’t like them and basically it’s going to be a physical battle and whoever hates to lose is going to be the team that wins this game. Right now we’re feeling like we’ve got to take this.”

Transcript: GM Buddy Nix Recaps the 2012 Draft

content_img

Yeah you know, I’ve said this 100 times, this happens to me more than it doesn’t for some reason, you have to be lucky for things to fall to you that you want. You can’t take those guys just because you got a need in that area. But we were able to fill every one that we set out to fill. We wanted two corners, two tackles, we wanted a wide receiver, we wanted two linebackers, and we were able to get those guys. Our team got bigger and we got faster. I just hope it was in the right spots, and I think it was.

I hope so. I mean we did at the positions. You just have to feel like these guys are going to do what they’re expected to do and they are the right kind of people and they’re good enough to play. I mean tlan Rice insists he’s committed to West Ham.Manchester City and United have both been linked with Rice and, while the 20-year-old believes he is good enough to play for a top club, he is happy at West Ham.Rice said, “If you look at the contract I’vhese linemen are huge, and we got some good speed at the skill positions.

Like I say, you’ve have to have some luck, things have to fall. We had a couple of guys that maybe we had targeted two or three and one or two of them were taken before we got to them, but the guys we really had rated the highest we were able to get.

Yeah, and these guys have really been good special teams players.ed with Fiorentina’s 0-0 draw against Juventus. The Viola picked up their first point of the season after defeats to Napoli and Genoa, with the best chances testing Wojciech Szczesny.“I am very happy, as it’s been three months since I played a full (Nigel) Bradham and (Ron) Brooks, those guys are impact players on special teams.

We needed a center. We’ve got Colin Brown playing there, we’d like not to wear him out and we wanted to get another center. This old boy is as big as a house, too. He plays center and guard. He’s 6’6 ¼” and 330 or whatever and really a better player than people think. He’s a smart guy. He should give us some help.

He’s worked there. How much he’s played there, I don’t really know, but I know he worked there in practice.

We had him in here to visit, and we knew we needed some depth at linebacker, and Tank has been a good player for them (TCU). He’s a tough guy, he’s had some shoulder problems. He did when he was a junior. He almost came out when he was a junior and he decided to stay in his senior year and had I think broke his little finger and didn’t tackle as well, but a good player. Can play any spot for us.

He’s a tough guy. He brings that kind of temperament I think to us and we always need that, you like to have those kinds.

We said all along that we like to go by body of work. We don’t want a guy that realizes he’s going to be eligible for the draft and puts more effort in it and it’s not an everyday thing. We want somebody that has been consistent with it.

You know I think he does that pretty good. I think he has to improve the other stuff. He can run with seam routes, you see him do it. He’s got good speed. This guy looks like Tarzan. I mean he’s really cut up. He’s a little bit straight-line and he might be just a fuzz late on some of the reads and the instincts, but he’s really a hitter. He punishes them.

I think it’s a position more than when you take them in the draft. I think you always want a, if it’s a back up you want a back up that can play guard or center. If you don’t, he’s never active. If a guy’s just a center he can’t get him active on game day, if he’s a back up. So you want your back up because you only have seven active offensive linemen, you want a guy that can play both tackle and you want a guy that can play guard and center, and that’s your seven guys. Now at linebacker, the way you’d get on the field is if you’re a good special teams player, but with this 4-3 scheme most everybody can play all three positions.

He’s a guy that, actually he probably went to the wrong school. He got hurt early in his career and he got behind people like (Morris) Claiborne and those guys. They got two or three young guys that are just like Claiborne. They just keep them coming. Once he lost it then he didn’t get it back until somebody else got hurt. I think the little freshman missed three or four games and he started those. When he played he was an impact player. He’s got great speed. We got him in 4.34. That was his work out. He’s really a big time hitter, good blitzer.

Yeah, he can.

According to who he was replacing, he played outside some but he played inside too. He’s a good player I know that.

He can play either side. He started out as a right tackle. (Andrew) Datko was the left tackle. Datko got hurt and they moved him over to the left side and he played left tackle so he’s played both. The good thing about that old boy is he started 51 out of 53 games.

I’m going to tell you why he was there, I think. He had a bad Senior Bowl. He goes to the Senior Bowl. He had tried to lose some weidream come true.Hazard left Chelsea this summer for Real for a fee rising to €150m.He told Corriere dello Sport, “Ever since childhood, I dreamed of one day wearing the Real Madrid jersey. “When Real knock at your door, you can do only one thing:ght and he worked them in at guard and that kind of threw him off. He didn’t have a good Senior Bowl. I think it scared off everybody. It actually scared us some. You couldn’t get it out of your mind. We say that all-star games are not going to move a guy up or down, but once you see it you know it’s hard not remember that. You go back to his body of work he played good and he’s got some of that strength back.

We’re going to get one in free agency. We’re going to bring in a quarter back and we think a good one. We were poised to draft one and he just wasn’t there.

You know our history with injuries. You’ve got to play through them up here and especially the way we’ve been the last couple of years. These guys are consistent and dependable. That is a factor.

It probably is (unique) for us. We did draft a couple that are still in San Diego. This guy, because we like competition everywhere. Don’t be surprised if we don’t bring in a punter just to have. We’re going to make them work to keep their spot. If somebody’s better they’ll beat them out. This guy is a kick off guy. He kicked through the uprights kicking off. And if you can make, if you can kick the ball in the end zone and make them start on the 20 it gives you a much better chance defensively. Then it will be up to Chan (Gailey) to figure out a spot to get him in the 46 so he’s active, but if he can consistently kick it in the end zone then he’s worth that 7th round pick.

I think so. If you could start every time on the 20. The wear and tear on your cover guys is a lot less. We did. We pinned them in there. Every now and then if he pinned one in the middle they started on the 40 and that’s what you’d like to know that you could kick it in the end zone every time. That’s mostly what people did to us.

In an emotional tribute to Liverpool staff who were on hand to ease his distress, Kevin May recounted the ordeal of learning of his son’s death and thanked Anfield staff for their support in a heartfelt message on Facebook.

"Just as I was about to enter Anfield through the turnstiles, I received a phone call from my eldest son Terry. He told me my other son Daniel, who was in intensive care, was flat lining and was about to die," May wrote in a d striker has been promoted from the Juvenil A team, where he scored 23 goals last season, and has loan offers from Spain, Germany and France.Indeed, talks with Alaves have reached an advanced stage, but Raul has moved to block the deal. The new coachmessage posted on his Facebook page.

"Obviously I was very distraught and struggled to hear him over the noiseennes. The exciting midfield talent, just 17, has some of Europe’s biggest clubs eager to ferry him away from Rennes as soon as possible.Manchester United, Barcelona and Inter Milan have all had scouts posted to Rennes games this season to watch Camav of the crowd. I turned to face the ground to hide my tears when I noticed beside me a tall police officer, who I now know was called Graham.

"He saw how distressed I was and saw the facetime image on my phone of my youngest son in intensive care. He immediately led me into the club and into the police supervision room.

"He sat me down and spoke to me while Terry continued to keep me informed of what was happening back in Guildford hospital in Surrey.

"I calmed down with the help of these two big Scousers I’d only known for half an hour, but they were great."

May was guided to his seat when he received a text message confirming his son had died.

Unfortunately I was only at my seat a matter of minutes, maybe ten I’m not sure, when I got a text from my daughter Stacey which simply read ‘He’s gone’. My beautiful 25yr old son Daniel had died of cardiac arrest.

"As soon as I stepped inside the police office I crumpled in a heep on a table with my head in my arms and just completely broke down.

"I sobbed like a baby at the loss of my son and feeling of despair. Graham and the Anfield employee both put their arms around me, an Argyle fan, in a show of pure human kindness, a credit to scousers and Liverpool FC as well as Liverpool police."

May asked that his ‘sincerest thanks’ be passed on to the Liverpool staff who were on hand to offer the father their ‘care and the kind word Nottingham Forest on a two-year-deal after the winger was released by Aston Villa following their promotion to the Premier League. The 31-year-old’s 125th and final Villa appearance was May’s Championship play-off final win over Derby.Villa were the s’.

Army vs. Navy Game 2018 score: Black Knights hold off Midshipmen for third straight victory

Army beat Navy 17-10 on Saturday, winning its third straight game against the rival Midshipmen and its second consecutive Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy in the process. Army put together an 82-yard tonnar Solskjaer is demanding full commitment from his players in preseason.Solskjaer and his backroom team have drawn up a hard-line pre-season diary to ensure there is no repeat of the fitness issues which were such a problem last term. And the manageuchdown drive on its opening possession, and controlled most of the game from that point on as Navy’s offense struggled to find success all day long.

The story of this game, ultimately, was turnovers. Army didn’t turn the ball over once, while Navy turned it over four times. While two first-half interceptions kept Navy at bay, it was two second-half fumbles that sunk the Midshipmen for good.

Navy earned a defensive stop on fourth down at midfield and proceeded to put together its best drive of the game and getting into the red zone. Unfortunately, a fumble by Garret Lewis inside the Army 5-yard line ended the Navy threat and effectively finished the game. Navy would get a defensive stop afterward and get the ball back in Army territory, and quickly capitalized with a touchdown drive to cut Army’s lead to 10-7. The Navy defense came through yet again on the next possession, forcing an Army punt, but their next offensive possession didn’t go nearly as well. Zach Abey was stripped of the ball while dropping back on 4th-and-12, and Army recovered the fumble. It was Abey’s third turnover of the day as he was responsible for both interceptions in the first half.

Army QB Kell Hopkins, on the other hand, had a terrific day. Hopkins rushed for 83 yards and scored both of Army’s touchdowns. He also helped Army convert some critical third downs during the game with his arm, as he completed 4 of 9 passes for 61 yards. Former four-star LB Darrin Kirkland Jr. decides not to leave Tennessee after all

Now this is what you call an about-face. Less than a week after Tennessee linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. announced on Twitter that he was transferring, it now appears he will be stayiis demanding strict discipline during the coronavirus suspension.Laporte revealed Guardiola has warned his team to stay in shape – and not go out in public. He said: “They have given us a daily training schedule. They trust in you and you have to beng with the Vols.

First-year coach Jeremy Pruitt on Tuesday that Kirkland will remain at Tennessee. Gridiron Now on Monday night that Kirkland had changed his mind. According to Pruitt, the decision came after he met with Kirkland and his parents over the weekend to discuss his plans. The consensus from the meeting was that Tennessee would be the best place for Kirkland to finish out his career despite injury problems.

Kirkland’s original tweet has since been deleted.

linebacker career started out with a bang, when he finished fourth on the team in tackles as a freshman in 2015 and earned freshman All-SEC honors.

It abruptly ended on Thursday when the redshirt junior announced pool have included new signing Harvey Elliott in their 25-man Champions League squad. After becoming the youngest player to feature in the Premier League last season for Fulham, the 16-year-old decided to sign a professional contract with the Reds.Ki-his transfer from the program.

The 6-foot-1, 238-pound native of Indianapolis notched 45 tackles in eight games in 2016, but an ankle injury suffered in the middle of the season prevented him from playing a full season. The injury bug bit Kirkland again in 2017, when he that ended his season before it even began.

He was limited in spring practice after a minor procedure to address a torn meniscus, but new coach Jeremy Pruitt seemed upbeat about Kirkland’s future when he addressed it in late March.

“Darrin had his knee cleaned up, so he’ll back, probably in two or three weeks,” . “He had done really well, progressed, worked in the offseason and (had) just a minor little clean-up there, so he’ll be back ready to go.”

Pick Six: Bowl season kicks into full gear with a busy slate of games to choose from

content_img

We’re through the warm-up period of bowl season. No more of this one game a day stuff. We’re approaching the full-blown “ignore your responsibilities and family” portion of bowl season. The time when there are multiple games on just about every day.

It’s the best time of year, and it’s made even better when you’re making money during it. Luckily for you, I’m here to help make sure that happens, so let’s get to it.

Games of the Week

: They say a man would have to be insane to take an under in the Bahamas Bowl. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m that whack job. I assure you that there’s a method to my madness, however. You see, Ohio has an efficient offense, but it’s not one I’d consider explosive. Plus, it’s strength is running the ball, and that always helps to chew up precious seconds when you need an under.

As for the UAB offense, it’s not great. Sure, it’s terrific that the Blazers are going to a bowl game in their first year back as a program, but UAB’s offense doesn’t light the world on fire. Using S&P+, its rushing offense ranks 82nd in the country while its passing attack is 107th. When it comes to explosiveness, UAB ranks 114th. So I can’t help but believe that total is a wee bit too high here. You know, as long as we can avoid a unt and Fikayo Tomori believe their confident starts to their Chelsea first team journeys is down to Frank Lampard. Both youngsters have stepped into the Blues first team and not looked out of place for a minute. The duo, who were on loan at Derby withtriple-overtime mind-melter, and since it’s the Bahamas Bowl, it’s a real possibility.

: Listen, I might be crazy enough to take an under in the Bahamas Bowl, but I’m not foolish enough to take one in this game. Instead, I’m going to go with the obvious answer in a game that’s likely going to come down to whichever team has the ball last.

South Florida leads the AAC in points allowed this year, giving up only 22.5 points per game. That number is very misleading, though. Against teams with winning records, the Bulls defense has allowed 38.5 points per game while Texas Tech is allowing 31.8 points per game. There are going to be touchdowns, and a lot of them.

Fun fact for you about San Diego State coach Rocky Long. Since he took over the program, the Aztecs have played 12 games against teams that run an option attack. Long has gone 11-1 in those games, winning by an average of 12.8 points per game. The one loss — which came to in the 2014 Poinsettia Bowl — came by a point.

San Diego State has played two options teams this season, beating 28-24 and 35-10. The Falcons and Lobos averaged 3.21 yards per carry against an Aztecs defense that ranks 37th against the run using S&P+ this season, and Army cannot throw the football. Do you get what I’m saying yet?

: I can picture it now. It’s Christmas Eve, and you’re surrounded by family and friends, growing frustrated because they keep trying to talk to you while you’re watching the Hawaii Bowl. Can’t they see you’re sweating an under? Don’t they realize that this third-and-three ae Belgium fullback has declared he expects to leave this summer – and L’Equipe says PSG management have now obliged by naming their price to sell.PSG are seeking €25m for Meunier, with Manchester United and Everton keen.Just recently, Meunier, who t midfield is the most crucial play of the game?

Well, fear not, because I’m quite confident about the under here. Neither team has what I’d consnchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expects more additions before next week’s Premier League transfer deadline.United have agreed a fee with Leicester for England centre-back Harry Maguire. Solskjaer told PA: “We’re still hope one or two deals ider to be a potent offense, and current forecasts show that there will be 14+mph winds during this game. If you’ve read this column before, then you know how high winds and unders go together like Christmas and capitalism.

: I do fear that this could be a scenario in which Bill Snyder tells his team before the game that he’s retiring, and then they go out and play the game of their lives for their coach. I just can’t rely on that happening. What I can count on is that UCLA is the far more talented team in this matchup and that I believe the Bruins are being undervalued here. Now, I also know that I’m betting on UCLA, but I don’t think it’s a stupid decision now that Jim Mora is no longer coaching the team.

And, yes, I would like this even if  isn’t playing in the game. It’s equal parts roster talent and fading the public.

: I bet you’re surprised to see that I didn’t take the under in this game. Now, if that’s the direction you want to go here, I don’t blame you, but it’s just too popular an option for me. Instead, I’d rather take advantage of an Iowa team that’s being underestimated.

I’m not saying the Hawkeyes are much better than Boston College, but 2.5 points just seems small. Neither team has a great offense, but Iowa’s better defensively. So I expect a lower-scoring affair, but one the Hawkeyes will win.

LOOK: Buffalo’s long snapper has some snapping skills

content_img

Long snappers generally don’t get a lot of attention, but they have an important job. While fans typically only pay attention to the field goal attempts or the punts themselves, if the snapper doesn’t get off the perfect snap, things can go really bad in a hurry.

But I’m guessing won’t have the problem very often.

Bulls punter Tyler Grassman tweeted some video of his long-snasea’s move to buy outright Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic. The Blues are close to signing loan flop Kovacic for £45million in a permanent deal.Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims Lampard will make the Real Madrid midfielder his fipper performing some impressive tricks on Wednesday. That long snapper just happens to be Tyler’s brother, as well, Corbin Grassman.

My Snapper is better than yours

— Tyler Grassman (@TylerGrask concedes the pressure is something that turns him off.”At the moment I don’t think the profession of trainer is reserved for me,” Van Dijk told Optus Sport. “The world can be very cruel. There are many people with opinions and that can affect yousman)

Did I mention my snapper is better than yours?

— Tyler Grassman (@TylerGrassman)

These are both rather impressive, and there’s no way I could do either without an enormous amount of luck, but you know what? I would rather see the video where the Grassmans practice knocking the Gatorade bottle ofedly made it clear that there is no future for Sanchez at Old Trafford. The Chile international was sent out on loan to Inter Milan for this season, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists there’s no way back for him, says the Daily Express.United are hopingf somebody’s head that didn’t work.

In the battle of impressive feats vs. dudes getting hit in the face by footballs, getting hit in the face by footballs is always going to win the battle for my heart.

This will be the second time in three seasons Alvarez has pinch-hit for a departed coach in the postseason.
