Landing No. 1 seed drastically improves LSU’s College Football Playoff title chances, projection model shows

jumped above to the No. 1 spot in the final Playoff rankings that were released on Sunday, which earned them a game against No. 4 rather than No. 3 . The debate on which top team would avoid facing Clemson was one of the more intriguing storylines on Sunday morning and statistics suggest that the Tigers are far more likely to win the national championship now than they were heading into championship weekend.

Stephen Oh, the principal data engineer for SportsLine, crunched the numbers and determined the simulated percentage to win the national championship based on the matchups and computer-generated statistics.

TeamSimulated national title % (Last week)Simulated national title % (This week)DifferenceLSU25%40.7%+15.7%Ohio State32%28.8%-3.2%Clemson26%27.1%+1.1%Oklahoma3%3.4%+0.4%

Why is there such a big gap between LSU and the field? The matchup vs. the Sooners is the biggest reason.

“The odds-makers agree that facing Oklahoma is a huurprised fullback Charlie Taylor is attracting transfer interest.Taylor has been linked with Leicester City this week.”I think he is a very good player,” Dyche told LancsLive. He added: “We want players to develop here regardless of contracts but whenge benefit to LSU,” Oh said. “A week ago LSU was 3/1 to win the championship so the’s enjoying his partnership with Fred. The pair were impressive for victory over Tottenham last night.McTominay told MUTV: “He’s such a nice guy and we have that connection on the pitch, and it’s just a pleasure to play alongside him. We’re getting eir implied percentage improved from 25% to 41.7%.”

That’s quite the jump considering Clemson rolled in the ACC Championship Game and Ohio State overcame a sluggish start to run away from in the Big Ten Championship Game. Of course, some of that jump was caused by LSU’s win over then-No. 4 in the SEC Championship Game. But it’s a stretch to say that the win over the Bulldogs caused that much of a move.

Another interesting nugget is that Oklahoma’s simulated chances only went up 0.4% despite and both beGunnar Solskjaer lacks leaders in his side.Fletcher was speaking after Solskjaer’s young United outfit were put to the sword by Manchester City in the first-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at Old Trafford.Speaking after the 3-1 defeat, Fletcher sing in the mix last week. Dante Pettis breaks NCAA record with ninth career punt return for a touchdown

Why anyone puts to wide receiver anymore is one of this world’s great mysteries. Still, teamsAlisson is frustrated with Liverpool conceding “stupid goals”.The Brazilian was helpless when Trezeguet found himself free inside the box to score Aston Villa’s opener on Sunday. The Reds eventually secured a dramatic late, but Alisson doesn’t want his team to put themselves in difficult positions by conceding poor goals.”It annoys me always when we concede,” Alisson said. “Stupid goals! When we concede that way, it annoys me and the team. “We always have a common goal to win the game and to keep a clean sheet. You are closer to the victory with a clean sheet and you always have a draw.”When you concede, the games become more difficult. We need to work better at that if we want to do great things.”He added: “We can do better in our concentration. Against Genk we conceded late on, so this annoyed me and the team. Where does your team rank? AP releases top 100 college football teams of all-time

The Associated Press wanted to find a way to rank every college football program against each other. Luckily, it has a long-running metric that can help with those calculations right in its back pocket.

The ranked list of 100 programs, , is the organization’s first list putting schools against each other using all-time success as a measuring stick.

” is rich with history, and the AP poll is a unique measure of how the sport has changed through time,” deputy sports editor Noreen Gillespie said prior to the list’s release. “The all-time list lets fans interact with that histochoice to join Chelsea in 2012.Hazard was wanted by several top clubs in England, but opted for a move to the West London outfit instead. He has won several major trophies with the Blues, vindicating his decision at the time.Speaking about that decisiry, and debate how the nation’s top programs fared over time.”

According to the AP, the rankings were based on total poll appearances, number of times ranked No. 1 and AP national championships. The AP poll started on Oct. 19, 1936, with 20 teams before getting reduced to 10 teams (1961-67) and then expanding back to 20 in 1968. NCAA D-I board chair doesn’t want O’Bannon appealed to Supreme Court

DESTIN, Fla. — NCAA Division I board of directors chairman Harris Pastides said he is not inclined to have the NCAA try to get the US Supreme Court to hear the Ed O’Bannon case if the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals rules unfavorably against the association.

Pastides, president of the University of South Carolina, said that an NCAA committee is currently working on creating new NCAA bylaws allowing football and men’s basketball players to be paid if the O’Bannon injunction goes into effect. Depending on the outcome of the NCAA’s appeal, schools could begin offering players deferred payments for use of their names, images and likenesses (NILs) beginning Aug. 1. The payments would go into effect in the 2016-17 academic year.

Pastides said he thinks the NCAA made a good case in its appeal and described the O’Bannon decision as a “hybrid ruling” that at least would allow the NCAA to limit how much money could flow to athletes. The NCAA could cap the amount of money for NILs at no less than $5,000 per year.

“My hope would be that we’d get beyond this,” Pastides said in an interview with from the SEC spring meetings. “You ask me if I’d like to see it appealed to the Supreme Court. I’m one member of the board. I’m eager to see us turn the page on that and start working within whatever framework we have to start working in.”

Here are excerpts of the interview with Pastides, who in January was elected chair of the NCAA board of directors.

Aug. 1 is the date when schools would be allowed to start offering payments to players for use of their names, images and likenesses. Are bylaws being created now if needed?

There is a committee that is working on preparing for that eventuality if this rolls forward and we’ve got to implement it. We’ll be prepared. Let me say, $5,000 is not that different from the numbers we’re all declaring relative to cost of attendance. Some of us said $2,500, $3,000, $3,500, $4,000. But it’s not like (US District Judge Claudia Wilken) said $20,000. It’s not like she said $100,000. It’s not like big business can come in and pay a hundred grand to one, two, three or 10 or 20 high-profile basketball and football players and say that’s the new model. I think her decision, although noWatford and Rennes are still haggling over a price for Ismaila Sarr. The Rennes winger is eager to move to Vicarage Road, though a fee is still to be settled.Watford’s last offer of €30m, reports Le 10 Sport, has been turned down by the Ligue 1 outfit.Rennes are insisting €40m to sell Sarr. The two clubs will continue negotiating this weekend over a deal for the Senegal international.t exactly what we would have hoped, is somewhere in the middle.”

Wilken did include cost of attendance in the O’Bannon injunction in addition to the allowance of money for NILs. So is it your understanding that it would be $5,000 plus cost of attendance, or it would be a combination?

I thought it would be a combination. I really do. That’s why I think (the dollar amount is) not that far away. … I think her decision would be just a bump up to five grand. But there are details that would have to be figured out. In fairness to us, if it goes through unobstructed by appeal, there would be some clarification. The NCAA would immediately have questions back: What did you mean by that? How does that get adjudicated? Literally, if we wanted to implement that ruling, it’s not clear. Just like the questions you had for me.”

My understanding was the O’Bannon injunction was cost of attendance plus NILs, not a combination.

I’m not sure. (Note: Wilken’s opinion supports theWest Ham keeper Lukasz Fabianski has been ruled out for at least two months with a torn hip muscle. The 34 year old Polish stopper suffered the injury taking a goal-kick during West Ham’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth on Saturday and was substituted in the 34th minute. conclusion that she’s saying NILs ands and cost of attendance are two separate numbers. Wilken wrote “the injunction will not preclude the NCAA from implementing rules capping the amount of compensation that macult for him to watch the UEFA Nations League. The Spurs midfielder was not involved at the World Cup or in the Finals of the Nations League, despite helping England reach the event this past summer. But Winks wants to put his head down and earn back hy be paid to student athletes while they are enrolled in school; however, the NCAA will not be permitted to set this cap below the cost of attendance, as the term is defined in its current bylaws. The injunction will also prohibit the NCAA from enforcing any rules to prevent its member schools and conferences from offering to deposit a limited share of licensing revenue in trust for their FBS football and Division I basketball recruits, payable when they leave school or their eligibility expires.”)

Is the Jeffrey Kessler case that seeks a free market for players the biggest lawsuit you’re worried about?

It’s a big one. We of course talk about it. I am hopeful there will be an agreement there of all parties. Of course, the devil’s in the details. I understand that the former players say that we were close to implementing something like full cost of attendance several years ago and there was an override. Now the courts are saying you need to do that, so the players want some of that money retroactively. I understand that point of view.

On the other hand, how far back do you go? Do you go to ancient times? That’s something we’re going to let the lawyers figure out. But we don’t want the players and former players to be against us. I know where money is involved it’s a contentious thing. But the NCAA can’t be seen as anti-player or anti-former player. We don’t want that.

Do you think there could be a way to create group licensing for athletes?

Maybe. I think when you think about a jersey, just to use that as an example, and when there’s a very popular player whose name is on the jersey and they’re flying like hotcakes but the university’s name is on the jersey too, I could see something where that player benefits later on. Maybe a group license is the way to do it.

We also at the NCAA care deeply about the players whose names aren’t on the jersey being bought. I’m one of those people who was strongly in favor of cost of attendance sharing more money with the players to help college become more affordable. … What I’m equally vehement in opposition is that we allow a small number of elite athletes to benefit egregiously because of their talent financially while they’re still college students. But if you were to ask me might there be some way where those students who are directly contributing to the financial gain of the university because they are so good, shouldn’t they benefit a little more? I think that’s something we can continue to work on.

Playing devil’s advocate, you’ve got regular students who are actors, musicians, writers and can get paid while being a student in college. When I was in college, I could work at the student newspaper and get paid and also get paid professionally as a freelancer.

But you did that on your own.

Right. So that’s another model that has been suggested. Couldn’t you say athletes could receive sponsorship money they’re able to obtain from the outside and universities wouldn’t be on the hook to directly pay for it?

Well, a track and field athlete arguably has that opportunity. But how does that happen for a football player or basketball player who has no value until they become a pro other than they’re part of the university team? If the benefits to accrue are moderate, I’m always going to want to talk about it. If the path forward is like remove all control, you know, then I’m not [in favor of it].

I know we have a student [at South Carolina] who used to be a Disney actor and made a lot. We understood it. How could she not have her big payday? But she took a leave of absence, she made money, she put the money in the bank. I don’t know how much. She didn’t have to tell me how much. The studios paid her money. She comes back to school at the right time. She has ample time to pay her tuition. That’s a good story.

It’s a little different in athletics when you’re playing a team sport. And by the way, I realize that young woman was different than other students. She came back, she was a little bit of a celebrity, just like athletes can be a celebrity. I’m one of those forces in the NCAA who wants to talk about these things. We’ll talk about them with Congress, we’ll talk about them with business interests. I just think the courts, plaintiffs, defendants, probably are not the best way to get the right thing done.

But change probably wouldn’t get done without pressure, right?

Well, it’s the American way. I think people would understand that we can’t just cave and roll over and say well, you’re applying pressure so here’s the treasury. … Then people say take the money away from the coaches’ salaries. But our hands are restricted there because of federal antitrust and you can’t restrict competitiveness.

To be fair, that’s what the players are saying. They’re saying they’ve been restricted and their value is capped at zero after a scholarship.

I know, but I would say 90 percent or more of NCAA members — even the 65 universities in the five autonomy conferences — are not going to find it easy to find the extra money because you can’t divert it from the coaches. The only thing you really can do is either in the best case defer projects that are of value to the university and the players themselves, or increase tuition or take state appropriations away in order to pay the athletes more. There’s not a huge treasury that allows us to do that. We’re fortunate with the [SEC] Network we have some new income. That’s where we’re going to get the money.

Some members of Congress want to create a presidential commission to examine issues in college sports. Do you think that is going to happen and what do you believe Congress’ role should be in college sports?

I don’t think it’s going to happen. I think there will be a constant din. There will probably be a minority of people wanting this anytime there is a flagrant problem [in college sports], because there will be these problems, I’m sure, every year. Congress’ role ought to be inquiring, to be interested, to be observant, but not to be managing or legislating because I think we’ve done very well all these years.”

Mizzou’s Gary Pinkel had no choice but to dismiss Dorial Green-Beckham

It may be that Gary Pinkel had no choice.

coach kicked his best receiver — and perhaps his best player — off the team Friday. It was absolutely the right thing to do to Dorial Green-Beckham and for Pinkel.

Male Mizzou athletes had been involved in a series of — at least alleged — incidents against women stretching back to 2011. Green-Beckham was the subject of a recent incident repoamsdale has revealed he has the full backing of manager Eddie Howe.Ramsdale is currently the first-choice.He told the Daily Echo: “He (Howe) said, ‘The shirt is now yours until you give me a reason to rethink it’.”It was a big deep breath moment and rt in he was not charged last weekend but , “causing her to fall down at least four stairs.”

Sometimes too much is too much. And there has definitely been too much at Missouri lately. There have been four incidents of (at least) alleged criminal acts against women regarding Missouri athletes since 2010.

• Former tailback Derrick Washington was sentenced for five years in prison in 2011 for felony deviate sexual assault against a female student. He served four months.

• Basketball guaxecutive of Scottish soccer’s Football Association (SFA), says that the “transformational” impact of the ongoing Fifa Women’s World Cup could lead to the creation of a full-time professional league in Scotland. The Scottish national women’s soccer teard Michael Dixon transferred within hours of a second rape accusation in two days coming to light according .

• Swimmer Sasha Menu Courey allegedly was sexually assaulted by football players. She subsequently committed suicide. Her plight became a national story .

The receiver’s dismissal came the same day an independent investigation found the Southampton continue to work the French transfer market. The Mirror says Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhutl is tracking Troyes teen sensation Bryan Mbeumo.Winger Mbeumo, 19, scored 11 goals in 39 games for the French second division side last season.Saints would have to pay in excess of £7m to land Mbeumo, who is also wanted by German duo Schalke and when investigating Courey’s alleged sexual assault and suicide.

Pinkel and the administration deserve credit for cutting ties with perhaps the school’s most visible athlete. But, really, what choice did they have?

No school should need this many incidents to conclude the obvious: DGB had issues. Perhaps the athletic department needs a massive self-examination. The coach who cut the cord on Green-Beckham on Friday, himself went through a .

DGB had come to be beloved at Mizzou and was arguably the best player on the field in December’s SEC championship game. The kid most likely would have been a preseason All-American. On his official recruiting visit, fans chanted his initials as he watched a Mizzou basketball game. He was, arguably, the biggest recruit ever landed by the program.

His signing was a sign Mizzou not only belonged in the SEC, but it would flourish. Both things happened in the short term. Mizzou has a chance to play in another SEC title game. DGB has the rest of his life to grow up.

His final off-field stat line will read two marijuana-related incidents and the latest incident report. All of it happened in less than two years on campus.

The woman in question did not press charges because “she was afraid of the media and community backlash,” according to a .

Green-Beckham’s girlfriend said in the same report that the receiver drug her out by the neck.

No charges were filed, but Green-Beckham had run out of second chances. He was three months removed from another run-in with police in his hometown of Springfield, Mo. Saturday is his 21st birthday.

Earlier in the day, Green-Beckham saying he had been “young and dumb.” Now, he’ll have to grow up and smarten up somewhere else.

Johnny Manziel won a battle in his effort to trademark the nickname ‘Johnny Football,’ as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office reportedly refused to register the same trademark with a College Station investment firm.

Sagarin changes formula, finally removes ‘Margin of Victory’

In the 2001 season of the BCS, half of the eight computers used at that time considered margin of victory in their calculations, and the other half did not.  That year, human poll No. 2 did not make the BCS title game due in large part to the fact that the MOV computers ranked the Ducks seventh, while the non-MOV versions ranked them third.

There were other problems too, but that was the one that got the attention of the BCS poobahs, who then decreed something like, “let margin of victory be stricken from all notebooks and tablets, stricken from all obscure algorithms of …so let it be written, so let it be done.”

The result is that since 2002, margin of victory has not been a factor in the computer rankings used by the BCS.  Two of the computer gurus dropped out instead of adjusting their formulas.  Peter Wolfe said he changed his formula to remove MOV as a component.  Jeff Sagarin added a new column to his ratings for BCS purposes called “Elo Chess,” which he described by saying, “only winning and losing matters; the score margin is of no consequence.”  Or so we thought.

This week, a new column of data appeared called “Pure Elo.”  Pure Elo has a familiar description.  It says, “only winning and losing matters; the score margin is of no consequence.”  Hmmm.  Where have I seen that before?  Meanwhile, “Elo Chess” has been renamed “Elo Score,” which he says “applies ELO principles to the actual SCORES of the games and so it is now SCORE BASED. (emphasis his)”  Let’s be perfectly clear…it was always score based.  The name of the heading and the description has been changed to protect the guias urged Juventus not to overreact regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s sub strop.Against AC Milan, Ronaldo was hooked on 55 minutes for the eventual matchwinner Paulo Dybala on Sunday and is said to have left the ground before the final whistle.Calderon tolty.

Jeff Sagarin wrote to explain the new formulas.  He said Pure Elo is “an improved version of Elo Chess” that he was working on in the offseason and uses in other sports.  He also says Elo Score is not the same as Elo Chess, but some other version he’s been using for a while in other sports.  He aarts on a Bosman this summer. The Telegraph says Chelsea have identified Crystal Palace ace Wilfried Zaha and Borussia Dortmund youngster Jadon Sancho as potential replacements for Willian. The pair are on Chelsea’s shortlist as Willian’s deal enters ilso made a point to say that, “At no point in the past during the BCS standings period of the season, once the dictum was pronounced in 2002, have I used scores in my official BCS standings report.”

The results of the new formulas don’t seem to bear that out, at least not yet (Sagarin assures me they eventually will), but that’s all we have to go on, so we are left to draw our own confusion.

Where the difference is most obvious is where FCS schools are rated in the new system.  Last week, Elo Chess had two FCS teams in the top 60.  The top rated among them was Eastern Illinois at 38.  Those facts are still true of Elo Score this week, but the Panthers are 24th in Pure Elo, which makes them the lowest rated of the seven FCS schools in the Pure Elo top 25.  Bethune-Cookman ranks fourth.  Fourth!!

Now, it doesn’t matter that Bethune-Cookman is fourth because FCS schools get pulled out and FBS teams slotted up for BCS purposes, but what this illustrates is that the Pure Elo formula is very different than the one that has been used for the last 11 years by the BCS.  Meanwhile, Elo Chess/Elo Score looks very similar to what it has always looked like.  Only now, Sagarin admits that MOV was a factor in those ratings.  Well, not in so many words.

Is this definitive proof?  No, my evidencer Martin O’Neill. The Northern Irishman only took the job at The City Ground five months ago but has now been dismissed, days after the departure assistant manager Roy Keane.O’Neill returned to the club where he won the European Cup and made 371 appea is anecdotal.  Only by examining the formulas can we prove that definitively, just like we need the formula to prove that Richard Billingsley’s ratings are influenced by the previous season.  That is a factor the BCS honchos don’t want considered either.  I have personally found an error or two in Wes Colley’s calculations over the years also, which I can do because thankfully, Colley’s formula is open and accountable.  That makes three of the six ranking systems that have had issues.  That we know of.

The BCS has always had its head buried in the sand regarding the computer formulas.  They never validated the results, and never validated that the programs were doing what they were told they were doing.  They prefer the Sargeant Shultz approach.  “I KNOW NOTHINK!”  They just keep telling us they trust the programmers and that they are, “the best in the business,” which is another claim they have no way of verifying.

We can only hope they did a better job vetting the new selection committee than they did their computer formulas.

“Today marks a wonderful new alignment between our bowl, our city and Royal Purple,” said the bowl’s executive director, Dan Hanneke, in a release. “Our event will only continue to grow with the addition of a great title sponsor and we can’t wait for the 22nd edition of the game, which is now just three months away.”

I know, I’m pretty excited about it all too.

If you’re wondering what Royal Purple is, well luckily the release was kind enough to include that information. According to the release Royal Purple is a Texas company that “produceurt Zouma.New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wan ideal choice for manager.Ratcliffe was delighted to see caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson lead the team to victory over Chelsea on Saturday in his first game in charge. He wrote for the Everton-pick-boss-knows-club-attract-Mauricio-Pochettino.html”>Dts to assess his squad before making a decision on the 24-year-old defender, who excelled on loan at Goodison Park last season.Silva says the Toffees will move on to other centre-back targets if a move doess a wide range of high performance lubricants for nearly every consumer and industrial application.”

And let me assure you that there are oh so many jokes I could write about “high performance lubricants” and Las Vegas,an’t escape the daily grind by sipping on posh Lavazza coffee. The Italian brand, which is the clubs’s official supplier, is available throughout the Emirates. However, the club’s hardworking behind the scenes crew are told to sup instant coffee on ma but I’d like to keep my job, so I won’t.

Oh, and also because they’re motor oil products. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Bob Stoops calls SEC’s reputation ‘propaganda’

Plenty of fans across the country have said the SEC isn’t nearly as strong as its reputation — or standing in the polls — might suggest, seven consecutive BCS titles or not. But even if they’d agree in private, few coaches have agreed in public as strongly as Bob Stoops did .

“So they’ve had the best team in ,” Stoops said at a “Sooner Caravan” Sooner fan gathering. “They haven’t had the whole conference. Because, again, half of ’em haven’t done much at all. I’m just asking you. You tell me …

“So you’re listening to a lot of propaganda that gets fed out to you,” . “You can look at the top two, three, four, five, six teams, and you can look at the bottom six, seven, eight, whatever they are. How well are they all doing? “What’d we [the Big 12] have, eight of 10 teams in bowl games this year? Again, you figure it all out.”

Stoops isn’t wrong when he argues that the r United midfielder Fred is emerging as a target for AS Roma.New Roma coach Paulo Fonseca worked New Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso is eager to hold onto Federico Chiesa. The attacker is being linked with a big money move away this summer. But Commisso says: “What I know is that Chiesa has a three-year contract, he will stay here for now, let’s hope. “I discovered what I read in the papers, but when as far as I know, Chiesa is a Fiorentina player and will remain for at least another year.”with Fred at Shakhtar Donetsk and has already recommended his addition to management.United paid €60m for Fred 18 months ago, but the Brazil internatiobottom rungs of the SEC haven’t offered much in recent years, or even that the Big 12 has been a deeper league of late; the latter actually put nine of its 10 teams in bowl games in 2012. Meanwhile, Kentucky and Auburn both finished a miserable 0-8 in SEC play with Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee all falling short of the postseason. All told, over the past two seasons, 38 percent of the SEC has failed to make a bowl game, compared to just 15 percent of the , or even that Kentucky’s better than, say, Iowa State. The SEC teams against which the Sooners are judged are the ones in its top half, the ones that have played eight BCS championship games against teams from other conferences and have won all eight — including, in both 2003 and 2008, games against none other than Stoops’ own Sooners.

The one way in which one league or the other’s bottom half might matter to the top teams in another is gauging which national title contender has played a more difficult schedule del Rey rout of Leganes.Barcelona eased into the next round of the Copa with a 5-0 victory over Leganes at the Camp Nou on Thursday evening and, with Griezmann opening the scoring on the night, the Frenchman has reiterated he is ready to play as a c– a factor that didn’t seem to make much difference to pollsters choosing between Alabama and Oklahoma State in 2011, but might matter substantially more with the forthcoming playoff selection committee. But again, even if the bottom end of the Big 12 offers more of a challenge than the bottom end of the SEC, does it matter when the SEC boasts four or five legitimate national title contenders to the Big 12’s two or three?

Again, Stoops can speak to that difference first-hand, since it was just January when his Sooners met Texas A&M — the SEC West’s third-place team in 2012, one that lost games to two SEC teams that didn’t make the SEC title game — and were destroyed, .

In short: is the SEC really so strong that teams like last season’s train wreck of an Arkansas squad deserve the benefit of the doubt? No. Is it strong enough that Bob Stoops should probably find other targets at which to aim his “propaganda” barbs? Yes.

Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly prepared if NFL offers come

Related links VideoMore coverage | |

When asked about the NFL for the first time on Saturday, Kelly said NFL teams would have to contact his agent to show interest but that .

I was able to circle back with Kelly about the intrigue of the , which, according to , has Kelly on its radar.

“How can you not be [intrigued]?” Kelly said. “When ys to put their feet up for the looming winter break. The winter break and general player fatigue are subjects addressed this weekend by Lampard, and he starts by detailing plans for the free fortnight if there is no replay against FA Cup opponents Hulou’ve coached football, you look at everything — you look at high school film and you watch coaches there, college, Division III to Division I, it doesn’t matter, college, NFL. All of that stuff intrigues me. I still think it comes down to time and place. What is the right time, and what is the right place? I never take any of that off the board.”

Kelly’s a smart guy. He knows might call after the game, win or lose, right?

“My agent would get a call, he’d run it by me, andn Klopp plans to use some fresh legs in Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Genk. The Reds take on Premier League title rivals Manchester City on Sunday.”We will hopefully have a couple of fresh legs in,” he said at his pre-match press conference.”I we’d go from there,” he said. “But, again, time and place.”

Is the right time and place next week, after the game?

“Time and place,” said a smiling Kelly as he walked off.

Kelly has a sweet job, the Irish have a chance to be really good next season and the coach’s popularity is growing in South Bend after three yeaull off the ultimate comeback against Barcelona on Tuesday night. The Reds are down 3-0 after the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.But Dalglish is backing the Merseyside club to overturn the deficit. He told the Sunday Post: “Of course, irs. But he has nothing to lose by at least having fun with the NFL thing. And it sounds like he’s being honest about the situation, playing the fairway between overstating allegiance to Notre Dame and overselling the NFL.

He has been a college lifer. But his personality would translate well to the NFL, and I think he knows it. Doesn’t mean he acts on it now.

After the season that the Irish had, Kelly will get more money next year regardless. So I’m not sure he needs to angle publicly for something like that. He’s just being honest — the NFL intrigues him.

Big East: NFL Draft prospect watch — Week 9

(US Presswire)

Here is the latest on the conference’s top players who are projected to go from playing on Saturdays to starring on Sundays.

With a stellar senior season, Nassib has moved up the draft charts more than any player in the conference. Though the Orange trailed 23-3 at halftime last Saturday at South Florida, Nassib didn’t panic. He responded with four second-half touchdowns, the last a game-winning, 1-yard pass to with three seconds left. Syracuse remained in contention for a bowl spot with the 37-36 victory. Nassib has a strong arm, goes through his progressions well and can run when needed. In a 42-41 opening-week loss to Northwestern, Nassib tied a for completions with 45 and set the conference all-time mark in attempts with 66. He also set a school record with 482 passing yards. On the season, the Orange quarterback ranks in the top 15 in FBS in total offense (326.5 yards per game).

203 of 310 (65.4 percent), 17 TDs, 8 INTs, 2,487 passing yards. INT.

Nassib is No. 90 overall, and the 10th-highest quarterback in .

ght-back Soares declared his intent to leave Saints at the expiration of his contract this summer.Asked whether he had spoken to Cedric about the defender’s future, Hasenhuttl replied: “At the moment no, because we have other problems.”I think every

Syracuse has a critical conference matchup on the road against Cincinnati. The Bearcats rank sixth in the Big East in total defense and last in the conference in pass defense (256.4 yards per game).

Greene is the leader of a stingy unit that might have been considered the top defense in the nation after Notre Dame before last week’s surprising loss to Kent State. The Scarlet Knights still rank sixth in FBS in run defense (88.5 yards per game) and seventh in scoring defense (14.25 ppg). It couldn’t be ac the USA’s clash with Cuba on Friday. The winger has had to bide his time on the Chelsea bench in recent weeks, but the 21-year-old says he is feeling in peak condition to play.”I feel the best I ever have. I feel very confident in my game. I’m not gocomplished without the ubiquitous outside linebacker. Greene quickly converges on running backs, sideline-to-sideline, is a menacing blitzer up the middle and looks more like a safety when dropping into pass coverage. In a 23-15 win over Syracuse on Oct. 13, Greene forced three fumbles, recorded 14 tackles, 1.5 sacks and intercepted a pass against the Orange. The senior has completely recovered from a he suffered in a 2011 Pinstripe Bowl win over Iowa State.

74 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, 5 FFs, 4 PBUs.

Greene is ranked No. 63 overall and is the sixth-ranked outside linebacker in .

The Scarlet Knights have a bye before facing Army on Nov. 10. The Black Knights’ unorthodox rushing attack leads FBS in rushing yards per game (383.13).

The Panthers’ senior running back looked like  in Saturday’s 47-17 win over Temple. Slowed by a prolonged recovery from a serious knee injury, Graham regained his explosiveness and made cuts sharply in the dominating victory. Graham finished with 180 all-purpose yards. Greene’s half brother ranked in the top five in FBS in rushing yards when he tore a ligament in his knee last October against Connecticut.

630 rushing yards on 134 carries (4.70 yards per carry), 22 receptions for 244 yards, 9 TDs.

Graham is ranked No. 169 overall and the No. 14-ranked RB in . Graham’s injury may have caused the relatively low projection.

The Panthers travel to South Bend to face a Notre Dame defense that’s ranked in the top 15 nationally in four statistical categories. The Irish are ranked ninth in run defense (95.25) yards per game.

The Bearcats’ running game hasn’t skipped a beat after the departure of 2011 Big East Offensive Player of the Year Isaiah Pead to the . Winn opened the season with a against Pittsburgh. In last Friday’s showdown at Louisville, Winn put Cincinnati in position for an upset but the Bearcat defense couldn’t hold up in a 34-31 loss in overtime. The physical senior back rushed for 125 yards on 26 carries. Winn excels at sticking his foot in they came from behind to beat Real Madrid 2-1 at the Bernabeu in their Champions League last-16 first-leg clash.Isco had given the hosts the lead but Gabriel Jesus and a Kevin De Bruyne penalty, before Sergio Ramos’ late red card, ensured the Premier Le ground when making a cut and heading straight down the field. He’s also tough to bring down when running between the tackles.

746 rushing yards on 123 carries (6.06 yards per carry), 106.5 rushing yards per game, 4 TDs, five catches for 15 receiving yards.

Winn is ranked No. 601 overall and is the No. 47-ranked RB in .

Winn faces a Syracuse defense that gave up 388 yards on the ground last week against South Florida. In the Orange’s previous three games, though, Doug Marrone’s defense allowed just 75 rushing yards per game.

Pac-12: Oregon and Arizona State mascots in heated YouTube rivalry

Back in September, the Oregon Duck that he was running for President. He had a solid platform — bread crumbs and gummy bears for all — a nice and even a campaign slogan, “America needs a leader who isn’t afraid of not wearing pants.”

Four weeks into campaigning, it looked like the Duck was going to cakewalk to the White House. But the cakewalk is over now because the Duck has to deal with something he didn’t have to deter United after snubbing them at the beginning of the January market. The former RB Salzburg hotshot has revealed Borussia Dortmund blew United out of the race for his signature by going all out to convince him to play in the Bundesliga – and claimal with in September: opposition.

Sparky the Sun Devil, Arizona State’s pitchfork wielding maroon mascot, has made it his personal mission this election season to make sure the Duck doesn’t get elected. The Duck claims to like puppies, kittens and all animals, but as Sparky and his group — Concerned Citizens of the Pac-12 — point out in the video below, the Duck once assaulted a Cougar.

However, the Duck hasn’t been too concerned with Sparky’s smear campaign because, as the Duck’s video shows, he doesn’t even know who Sparky is.

Shortly after the release of the Duck’s video, Sparky dropped a bombshell on America claiming that the Oregon Duck isn’t even a duck at all — he’s a Canadian goose.

Instead of showing his duck birth certifica defender Ethan Ampadu continues to be frozen out at RB Leipzig. The Wales international moved to RBL this summer on a season-long loan. However, Ampadu is yet to see any action under new RBL coach Julian Nagelsmann – the youngster has not had a singlete to prove Sparky wrong, the Duck took another route: He made a video with a bunch of really cute puppies and kittens. Puppies and kittens don’t vote, but people who like puppies and kittens do.

Sparky countered the Duck’s puppies and kittens video by making an entirely valid point that the Duck’s entire platform — you know, the one about gummy bears and bread crumbs for all — is unhealthy and will lead to more childhood obesity.

With his “bread crumbs and gummy bears for all” plat’re selling midfielder Tomasz Soucek to West Ham United.Soucek arrived in London yesterday to undergo a medical – news which was confirmed by Slavia via social media channels. In Prague, it’s expected Slavia will sell Soucek to the Irons for a fee of form blown to pieces, the Duck, being an astute politican, quickly came up with something else: sporks for everyone. Sparky’s favorite utensil is a fork — specifically a pitchfork — and the Duck points out that not only are forks dangerous but they’re not economical. By combining all spoons and forks in the country into sporks, the national deficit will go down $1 billion and national spending will increase by trillions, according to the Duck.

Remember Howard the Duck? Well, Sparky does. In his final video, his action group, Concerned Citizens of the Pac-12, said Howard was a duck genetic experiment gone wrong.

Sparky and the Duck will see each on the field Thursday when Arizona State and Oregon meet at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
